UkeFoxx Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - Doesn't make the movie crap because it didn't have many original songs :| If the songs were performed well it doesn't matter if they weren't original, I really don't get your logic that a movie you enjoyed and was performed amazingly is terrible simply because many of the songs weren't new. That's like any version of Les Miserables besides the first were terrible because all the songs they sang already existed.

Mar 22, 2012 - ich liebe ihn auch, aber das original von queen find ich grauenhaft....
RaysGaming1 Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - How wrong can the Nostalgia Critic be. He completely overlooks questions like "Why did they use modern songs?" or "Why do they fall in love fast?" They use modern songs to communicate Christian's modern poetry. They fall in love fast because Christian is obsessed with love and because Satine has never been in love.
Ladyluzifell Says:

widdlepuddyfat Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - The thing is that they could have easily had someone writing "modern" poetry of their own, instead of using songs that had already been written. Also, nothing really explains why Satine turned cold and skeptical to head over heels in a matter of seconds. People rarely fall genuinely in love that fast. The over the top and surreal nature of the film is the only reason this film really gets away with it. You can love a movie while acknowledging it's flaws, you know. :P
widdlepuddyfat Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - The problem is that musicals like Les Mis created the songs used in it, while Moulin Rouge just used other musician's hard work.
LeoSprinter2012 Says:
Apr 3, 2012 - I am rediculously in love with a girl, and she doesnt know. Ain't that awesome.. No mater what, at least i'm in love. Maybe if i could sing?! hmm, I bet that would help lol. Nah, probably not..
RaysGaming1 Says:
Apr 4, 2012 - They very well could have made modern style poetry of their own (which is what they did with come what may), but I think using already popular modern songs gets the point across better, and I believe Luhrmann did as well. Also, Satine does not turn from skeptical to head over heels, she turns from a heartless seducer to falling in love with the only person to offer love to her, over the course of two scenes, the medley and your song. It is true that people rarely fall in love that fast (cont'd)
RaysGaming1 Says:
Apr 4, 2012 - Cont'd: Is that to say that love at first sight stories are all as fake as you say the one in Moulin Rouge is in your mind? It is not that the over the top and surreal nature of the film that lets it get away with this, it is the fact that it is a love story concerning two people who are bound to fall in love even before they meet. I do not love this movie in despite of your so called "flaws", I love this movie because these "flaws" are not actually flaws, but are details that enhance the story.
RaysGaming1 Says:
Apr 4, 2012 - In addition, why is it that covering love songs in a musical about love something that can be used against the film? Doug says that it is because this movie is named as the return of the musical, when it contains one original song. That has nothing to do with the film itself. That has everything to do with people who say that the songs in moulin rouge are original. Obviously they are not, and obviously, that is not why the fans love this movie.
