Apr 10, 2012 - Your comment has nothing to do with what I posted. My point was that even famous or established writers get turned down by publishing houses. Therefore, perseverance pays off.

animeotaku307 Says:
May 8, 2012 - Yeah!I'm an aspiring writer and even I know it's going to be a difficult road. Not impossible, but very difficult to even get someone to notice you.
animeotaku307 Says:
May 8, 2012 - Umm... the aspiring author in the video decided to write a best seller without knowing or even caring about the care that goes into writing and publishing a novel. He's saying "I'm gonna write an awesome book and make a huge amount of money off it," which isn't realistic. The other person was simply stating the reality; it's difficult to get published and having a high and mighty attitude will quickly get you shot down.
animeotaku307 Says:
May 8, 2012 - I think it's purpose is to call out people who just decide they're going to write the BEST BOOK EVER! and not even think about the reality of publishing. The voice of reason in the video just called out the wannabe on his attitude towards the industry.
animeotaku307 Says:
May 8, 2012 - This video just makes fun of people who randomly decide to write the MOST AMAZING BOOK EVER WRITTEN! and not only write at a low standard (often not even caring to learn the craft), but also approach publishing with unrealistic ideas (I'm gonna be a millionaire!).Just write your book with a lot more TLC than the pink guy. Spend time making sure it's at a standard you think people will enjoy before you even think of looking for an agent/editor.Also, keep your job.
cpuwrite Says:
May 8, 2012 - Half truth. This "aspiring author" is a strawman, a bogus "easy target" whose speech is deliberately manipulated to make "him" an easy target for the "other person," who was nothing but rude and insulting. It sends the message that, instead of helping others, you should abase and belittle them--and that message is pure, unadulterated bullshit.
Elementer117 Says:
May 9, 2012 - Thank you!
Elementer117 Says:
May 9, 2012 - Hardly. The video gives the impression that most new writers are arrogant. That's not true, a lot are self-conscious about their writing, so much, the work of many never see the light of day. This is just a strawman making dumb statements with easy rebuttals. It's like he's bragging he got published. The reading thing is just a way for the author to plug his book. It like he's saying "you should read a book if you want to be a novelist, so why not read mine?"Worthwhile? One word: Twilight.
cpuwrite Says:
May 9, 2012 - A few years ago, I helped a new author named Martha Tucker put together "The Mayor's Wife Word Sapphires," a political thriller. It was Martha's debut novel--but it was special. It has a unique realism that only an insider could give it.That novel has piled up a small mountain of writing awards. Its sales were the springboard that Martha used to start up a novel marketing group, PremierWriters. Was Martha arrogant about it? No. If I hadn't pushed her, it would never have been finished.
cpuwrite Says:
May 9, 2012 - Problem is that these people are exceedingly rare. Much more common is the failed writer who wrote a short story or two, checked the market and gave up in frustration. I know some very talented writers whose work would grace the world if only they could be motivated to finish it.
cpuwrite Says:
May 9, 2012 - The problem is called "Microsoft SAM." :) :) :)

May 9, 2012 - YouTube tries VERY hard not to let one post links. :) :) :)
hungryforspiders Says:
May 10, 2012 - Just because the New writing in this video was arrogant to the max does not mean this is an accurate depiction of all new writers. It is an exaggerated example used for the purpose of getting the point across that writing a novel takes a lot of work and shouldn't be taken too lightly. It's not trying to put everyone down or discourage them from writing, it's saying you should hone your skills a bit before taking on a big task. It's a message that can be used for any situation, not just writing.
emireechan Says:
May 12, 2012 - You know, I think a lot of people write for the wrong reasons. That is, for the fame. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the attention and enthusiasm of my fans online whom I share my writing with, but in the end I write for the same reason I draw and paint - because it's enjoyable and an escape or expression. When I write for myself the standard remains high whereas if I write for the readers my inspiration falls.
ghostkrashers Says:
May 12, 2012 - Generally, most of those people never get their books actually published because they lose interest from their money making scheme. And if they do, then props to them. They have decent perseverance.
ghostkrashers Says:
May 12, 2012 - No. The point is don't quit your job and be a dumbass who doesn't know anything about writing a book. This is sadly what a bunch of random hopefuls do...
TheBigChill10 Says:
May 17, 2012 - Xtranormal videos ate funny lol
