May 26, 2012 - Maybe. I just know the bottom string is the same as the bottom string on a 4 string bass. EBEADGBE would actually make a bit more sense, since he'd have to bar to make any kind of large chord.

May 26, 2012 - They do have a bass guitar sound in the live and studio versions of their songs. They use bass samples when they tour and they program bass sounds in the studio. So they do have bass sounds in their songs, they just don't use a bass guitarist to produce those sounds is all. A machine does it for them.

May 27, 2012 - No he doesn't..It's Fredrik and Tomas that first came up with the concept of using polyrhythms in death metal. Fredrik writes most of the riffs. Marten was added later on to help Fredrik and keep the rhythm while Fredrik played the solos. Fredrik is the driving force behind Meshuggah. Just because he can't speak english too well that is why Marten does all the talking and seems like he does more than he actually does. Believe me I've been a fan of Meshuggah for almost 15years now.

May 27, 2012 - Meshuggah is groove metal, not death metal. derp.

May 27, 2012 - Kids these days. Back in the early nineties when I first became a fan we didn't have stupid subgenres. We just called it death metal. Now everyone's tryna come up with a name for everything. If you wanna get all nitpicky then progressive math metal is what Meshuggah have called themselves at one time. I just don't care about all these stupid sub genres that people like to put up nowadays. Where are the days when metal as a whole used to be more united?
Milesgatman Says:
May 27, 2012 - A fan of Meshuggah in the early to mid nineties that is. You probably were pooing in your pants then......................derp.
Julia Baizley Says:
May 27, 2012 - Nice, assuming I am young to devalue my thoughts. Yeah, need I remind you that you were the one to (incorrectly) call Meshuggah death metal. Cannibal Corpse is death metal. Obituary is death metal. Death is death metal. Meshuggah is some heavy shit, for sure, but groove metal is like the transitional point between the technical grooving of thrash and the simpler heaviness of death metal. Pantera and Exhorder started groove metal. Genres are important.

May 28, 2012 - to be fair, you said derp. that basically puts you in a pretty young age group regardless of what else you say
Julia Baizley Says:
May 28, 2012 - I'm 31. Was into the whole 4chan thing for a few years. Forever young, yeah?

May 28, 2012 - 3.50 breakdown?
Erwin Benedikt Says:
May 29, 2012 - genres are nice but not important. i only distinguish between 2 kinds of music: kicks ass - sucks. AAL definitely kicks some serious ass.
Julia Baizley Says:
May 29, 2012 - This type of music bores me. I think the whole 'djent' guitar sound is one of the worst I've heard, took me years to get into Meshuggah even because of it. This dude IS an amazing guitarist, though, especially that older shit he did with the metalcore band Reflux. (Not a fan of their music so much either, but Tosin and the drummer of that band fucking killed it.)
Sandra Buchrieser Says:
May 29, 2012 - maybe it only takes some yrs for you to get into animals as well??? ;P
Julia Baizley Says:
May 29, 2012 - Probably not. Meshuggah at least had a song or two that caught my interest back when I hated their guitar tone. I still don't like the guitar tone, but new material like Do Not Look Down kind of spiked my interest in Meshuggah drastically. Some of the most interesting slow grooves I've heard since early 90s death metal. Unf.
