May 16, 2012 - People say "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd is the greatest rock guitar solo of all time, but to me *this* is the greatest rock guitar solo I've ever heard in my life. SRV was a technical virtuoso and an emotional powerhouse. Never heard anyone to equal him.

DanceTheSpears Says:
May 17, 2012 - Sorry, Jimi.....SRV does it better.....and had more technical talent. I'll debate anyone who claims otherwise. Facts are facts.

May 17, 2012 - This isn't just about American Rock and Roll ladies and gentlemen its about the absolute soul that he pours into this.

May 19, 2012 - 100% agree. SRV is the greatest guitar player of all time. Heck, even Clapton says so! Hendrix was great, but nothing like Stevie. Music just poured from his soul.

May 19, 2012 - Stevie, the world needs you!
Zappo32 Says:
May 19, 2012 - I like this piece a lot, it ranks number 8 on my favorite guitar solos of all time. "Comfortably Numb" is second because ''Watermelon On Easter Hay'' by Frank Zappa kicked it out of the first place, haha.
jackdhammer Says:
May 19, 2012 - Depends on how you define better. SRV is an amazing technician. But Hendrix was a force of nature. Personal preference I guess. I always just "felt" Hendrix more than I did SRV. SRV always felt more sterile to me. Sometimes when you clean it up technically, you take away some of the rawness that makes it move your soul. Like I said, just an opinion. Regardless, great version of this tune.

May 21, 2012 - If it's any consolation, I dont know who John Mayer is lol.

May 26, 2012 - @dg12988. First yes srv was a great blues player HOWEVER jimi was just as much as a blues player as srv was. 2nd jimi was 10x more instrumenatal in w.e genre and facet u want to place him in, u cannot place a prodigy over the master. Agreed they are both amazing musicians and top guitarists in their field but u cannot placeone over another. No disrespect
