Mar 24, 2012 - The song "Cruel to be kind" came out in 1979, but it played on MTV on their first day, on August 1, 1981 (as the 67th one to play that day). I agree, though; it sounds more like a '60s tune, or maybe early '70s.

Mar 24, 2012 - If you "own" this artist why would you upload a video from VH1Classic instead of the original item?

Mar 25, 2012 - I NEVER get tired of this great song. It also reminds me of some very happy times in my life when it came out. I was 20 when this hit the charts!

Apr 13, 2012 - this is actually not the original version, but the version that Nick re-recorded and remixed for Stiff in '79. the orginal version (promotional record 1978) was a little faster in vocal and tempo. Dave Edmunds harmony was not in the original either. This version is the best!!

Apr 29, 2012 - Nobody knows what the hell that means. They just like the song. They're not artistcially deep like you. We all can't be deep dark and disturbed like you. You just have that special talent that none of us have.

May 4, 2012 - I got to meet Nick Lowe LAST NIGHT after his show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta- a lifelong dream fulfilled. He is one of the nicest "Pros" I've ever met and he was wonderful to my 12 yr old son who wanted to meet him. If I didn't already love him- I do so more now!

May 8, 2012 - I remember I was on my way to my second grade classroom, I remember my dad was wearing a blue collared shirt and was singing along... I asked him "how can you know all the words to the songs on the radio?" He said, "trust me Robert, one day... you'll know the words to hundreds, maybe thousands of songs. You're really smart." I think I know approximately 4 songs now, well on my way to a thousand lol. I love you dad, wherever you are.

Mar 24, 2012 - I think the release year was 1979. But because MTV wasn't around for 2 more years still. It fell like "Video Killed The Radio Star" and was adopted as an 80's song because of being shown on MTV. BTW is it wrong that I still know all the words to this catchy tune?
