Nov 30, 2011 - can someone tell me the soundtrack's name
YeMightyDespair Says:
Dec 3, 2011 - It was meant as a crime mystery with an element of horror. Gaston Leroux was a mystery writer. The love story came with later remakes and musicals. The "phantom" Eric was meant to be sympathetic, but ultimately his obsession drives him to kidnapping and murder and he has to be stopped. Taking away the crime and horror elements and only leaving the love story takes away from the overall complexity and genius of the novel. Wanting those aspects kept does not make one a crass moron.

Dec 16, 2011 - @YeMightyDespairWell put. Personally I think the Claude rains version is my favorite both because it presents him in a sympathetic light while at the same time acknowledging his crimes. He's obsessed, pitiable, and villainous all at once. It's a great performance.
TakersMissy Says:
Jan 1, 2012 - As true to Leroux's phantom as Lon Chaney was, the movie would've been even better had they kept to the original plotline AND had not let hack director Ruper Julian anywhere NEAR the film! Originally, the first version followed the novel quite closely, and the Phantom's last words were, "All I ever wanted, Daroga, was to be loved". He lived with hate and died for love. So yes - there definitely was a romantic theme in the midst of this mystery/horror story. Lon Chaney was the greatest!!

Jan 5, 2012 - I think that if London After Midnight is ever found, it'll probably turn out to be average (although a copy would be pretty cool). Here's an example:Tomb of the Cybermen, a 60's serial of Doctor Who which was previously among the list of many lost serials of this programme, was found in 1993, 26 years after it was broadcast. During this time, it had gained a reputation in fandom for being the best Doctor Who ever, but when people watched it on VHS, it turned out to be average.

animationdude56 Says:
Jan 17, 2012 - well, we all have different opinions. It's not bad (certainly not as bad as The Twin Dilemma) but not as good as Inferno. Somewhere between good, great and ok.

Feb 15, 2012 - R.I.P. Lon Chaney, you were trually a good silent actor.
unfortunatewitnessX Says:
Feb 15, 2012 - Wow.
Plingio Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - I love Castlevania! Its music is heavily inspired by the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which James opens the episodes with. It's long, but you should give it a listen. A good use of ten minutes.
hannibalbrown Says:
