Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained, It rode us all the way to New Orleans. I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna, I was playing soft while Bobby sang the blues. Windshield wipers slapping time, I was holding Bobby's hand in mine, We sang every song that driver knew. Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose, Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now. And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues, You know feeling good was good enough for me, Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee. From the Kentucky coal mines to the California sun, Hey, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul. Through all kinds of weather, through everything that we done, Hey Bobby baby kept me from the cold. One day up near Salinas, Lord, I let him slip away, He's looking for that home and I hope he finds it, But I'd trade all of my tomorrows for one single yesterday To be holding Bobby's body next to mine. Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose, Nothing, that's all that Bobby left me, yeah, But feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues, Hey, feeling good was good enough for me, hmm hmm, Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee. La la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la la La la la la la Bobby McGee. La la la la la, la la la la la La la la la la, Bobby McGee, la. La La la, la la la la la la, La La la la la la la la la, hey now Bobby now Bobby McGee yeah. Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na na na na Hey now Bobby now, Bobby McGee, yeah. Lord, I'm calling my lover, calling my man, I said I'm calling my lover just the best I can, C'mon, where is Bobby now, where is Bobby McGee, yeah, Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee, Lord! Yeah! Whew! Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee.

rainspirit100 Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - addicts don't/can/t ease up, after awhile, we lose the choice, hope u can understand this, if not, read the doctors opinion in the Big Book, they knew it back then and i worked in the field for years, we send addicts/alcoholics to 12 step programs as there is NO medical cure, once an addict always an addict may sound trite yet true

rainspirit100 Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - started using back in the 60's, hey everyone was doing it, no actually not everyone was doing it, and after years of hopping from substance 2 substance, i lost the choice, had 2 use. lost way too many friends as the music field has lost 2 many talents, they lost the choice also, curt, jeff buckly, whitney, the list goes on, and that doesn't even touch the 60's RIP Janis

Apr 16, 2012 - Just a thought, but youtube, especially good stuff like this, is not where you should be thumping your bible. Enjoy life, it's the only one we got, but make it better for those that follow us. That's our real legacy. Stop worrying about where you're not going and think about what you're leaving behind. Be happy and make a difference.

inya1lake Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - Too many comments from people who have never known the hell of addiction. There is a special heaven for us that have.

inya1lake Says:

Dprang1 Says:

Apr 28, 2012 - Back in those days, we as people were not a "me" society which I am sure influenced the music of the day... it was like going into uncharted territory. As far as drugs go, my friends and I kept it to soft drugs only. Hence we are all still around. The friends we did lose were not into drugs but driving wickedly fast and drinking tons of alcohol.

lomalizzy Says:

May 6, 2012 - The mayor and council of my town, Cutler Bay fl just voted in favor of the state okaying medical marijuana. Oh, God! Are they just stupid? I lived thru this era and saw the gateway drugs destroy lives. I lived thru the days of the cocaine cowboys. God help us with clueless legislaters like this. Repeat after me, "Our Father, who are...."

ministudioz Says:

May 6, 2012 - Can't prove it by me, Ive never even had a puff of a joint. but Willie Nelson just turned 79, and I'm older than him, ha ha..

bigspoon87 Says:

May 11, 2012 - Gateway drugs are gateway drugs precisely because they are illegal. If pot is legal, it is just a step above cigarettes, so even fewer people will springboard from that to harder drugs. Keeping pot illegal doesn't stop anyone. Don't be naive. There is just no comparison between pot and hard drugs though. As I and many MANY people know. Most who smoke pot would NEVER go harder. Pot should not be illegal. The end.

caveman1968 Says:

May 18, 2012 - uneducated in the subject? get chronic disease then tell me what you like, oxycontin or marijuana. id rather have a joint any day, besides when was the last time anyone beat their wife on MJ, when was the last time someone caused a felony because they smoked MJ? worst that will happen is they will indent your couch or eat your food. get a clue. was raised by christians they are like you. but not anything like jesus.

Startruth144 Says:

May 19, 2012 - Please tell me you are joking?

Startruth144 Says:

May 19, 2012 - 35 years old........... I have looked up to Kris since I seen him in that movie with Babs,,, I look forward to Kris and Rita.. Singing together forever! I grew up in the 80s' and 90's but Know talent! Rubbie Duckie for always!

vhanktank Says:

May 20, 2012 - First time I ever heard of Janis Joplin was when I was 17. I was raising hell that summer and she was singing at Woodstock and SIU and about every other place that was holding concerts. Though it might be her most famous recording, Me and Bobby McGee certainly isn't her best one. Her Greatest Hits album is fantastic as is her Kosmic Blues one. She was phenomenal, but her candle was just a little too short like so many of the other 'greats'.
