Description:
It Might Get Loud is the title of a 2008 documentary by filmmaker Davis Guggenheim. One of the most dynamic gatherings in music history takes place in the new film IT MIGHT GET LOUD when legends Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White come together to play, compare notes and talk about music and their mutual love of the electric guitar. Directed by Davis Guggenheim and conceived by producer Thomas Tull, the film, through the words and music of three generations of musicians, celebrates the love affair these men and countless others have with the electric guitar, perhaps the most innovative and challenging instrument ever created.IT MIGHT GET LOUD isnt like any other rockn roll documentary. Filmed through the eyes of three virtuosos from three different generations, audiences get up close and personal, discovering how a furniture upholsterer from Detroit, a studio musician and a painter from London and a seventeen-year-old Dublin schoolboy, each used the electric guitar to develop their unique sound and rise to the pantheon of superstar. Rare discussions are provoked as we travel with Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White to influential locations of their pasts. Born from the experience is intimate access to the creative genesis of each legend, such as Link Wrays Rumbles searing impression upon Jimmy Page, who surprises audiences with an impromptu air guitar performance. But thats only the beginning. While each guitarist describes his own musical rebellion, a rockn roll summit is being arranged. Set on an empty soundstage, the musicians come together, crank up the amps and play. They also share their influences, swap stories, and teach each other songs. During the summit Pages double-neck guitar, The Edges array of effects pedals and Whites new mic, custom build into his guitar, go live. The musical journey is joined by visual grandeur too. We see the stone halls of Headley Grange where Stairway to Heaven was composed, visit a haunting Tennessee farmhouse where Jack White writes a song on-camera, and eavesdrop inside the dimly lit Dublin studio where The Edge lays down initial guitar tracks for U2s forthcoming single. The images, like the stories, will linger in the mind long after the reverb fades.IT MIGHT GET LOUD might not affect how you play guitar, but it will change how you listen. The film is directed and produced by An Inconvenient Truths Davis Guggenheim, and produced by Thomas Tull, Lesley Chilcott and Peter Afterman. On Camera: Jamaal Finkleywww.blacktree.tv

Feb 3, 2012 - @bassgypsy00 It is very good that you have realized this fact. Although jack hasn't made as much as an influence as Jimmy, he certainly is one of our generations top artists. He is true to the art of music and not some fucking wanna be like lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, ect. (pretty much everyone in mainstream music). It is definitely not about how fast you can play but the message and feel you can convey in your music; And that is why he is here.

Feb 4, 2012 - i love the fact that about two million people still trust in good music while everything is sorounded in the sea of commercial bad music

rudepolarbear Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - @bassgypsy00 You're an idiot. He is currently influencing musicians with his two HUGELY successful bands. You cant deny that he is an influential musician at all. The White Stripes and The Raconteurs made a whole new sound.

bassgypsy00 Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - @rudepolarbear The Raconteurs are cool and explore some nice grooves, but I don't like the white strips, they reminds me of lot of weak bands I heard during my ten years spend at downtown studio in LA. I believe its jack's voice that allows so many to except the instrumental part of the music. Btw, its my ear and my experience not yours. I'm glad you get inspiration from both bands. Its impotent for development to have a clear goal in mind. I truly hope you achieve your goals.

bassgypsy00 Says:

Feb 4, 2012 - @Alexander87oclock I am seeing that Jack understands the importances of silence and simplistic, its the best and easiest way to make a piece of music = silence is golden.

SWbro94 Says:

Feb 5, 2012 - Jimmy Page is for sure a rock legend, The Edge is pretty damn innovative, but I don't think he's a legend, and while I respect Jack White, he's nowhere near being a rock legend.

iyot1020 Says:

Feb 5, 2012 - after watching this movie i respect jack white even though i hated the white stripes and goes to i found a new level of hatred for U2 the edge was a fucking douche!!! half the time he was talking about politics and shit that goes on in ireland the movie was about the electric guitar not about catholics and protestants killing each other i swear U2 is the biggest piece of shit band in the planet!!!

bille77 Says:

HY11A Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - The Edge is a great guitarist and Jimmy and Jack were able to click together well because they were similar while The Edge was in his own corner of music.

P00TANARA Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - @lucashenri123 you are probably watching the wrong video

dandaily4 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - @DukeStarbuckle You should probably just go back to sleep. Leave the genius music to those who deserve it.

withengineheart Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - Damn.. seems a lot of people completely missed out the whole point of this documentary, The three guitarists differ entirely in playing style, equipment choices, background, audience, motive and span three generations of rock music. It wasn't a contest over who can rip the greatest solo or sold the most albums. Each artist is innovative and was fresh and exciting when they broke through. If they had Jimmy Page with Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend, the documentary wouldn't have the same meaning.

KylePlaysHisGuitar Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - dood i wanna see this.

DukeSecom Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - @bassgypsy00 well, considering he's one of the only big musician's of this generation that stays true to themselves and actually writes about real stuff, i think you've gotta give him some credit
