Dec 9, 2011 - what is your soil mix?

mediamaker2000 Says:

Dec 9, 2011 - 1 part coco coir, 1 part earthworm castings. 1 part miracle grow organic soil & 1 part sunshine mix.

Jan 29, 2012 - I like you lettuce and I want to have that kind its green and healthy, I tried to plant seeds of lettuce using soil outisde the house, from seed it start to grow beautifully but as they grow I have seen some bites from insects which I have no idea what kind of insect, I become irritated of the result without letting them grow further and I decided to destroy them, maybe I'll star all over again....

Jawnryan Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - What kind of light bulbs are those? Where do you buy em at?

mediamaker2000 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - Those are just twist compact 6500K color (5000k will be fine too) fluorescents. Those were 60 watt equivalents but 100 watt (23 watt) would be better.

mediamaker2000 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - Avoid the miracle grow organic soil as I found out that it is loaded with fungus gnt eggs in it! :-(

Irishgirl41 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - have you heard of kelloggs?

mediamaker2000 Says:

Feb 9, 2012 - The cereal maker?

Irishgirl41 Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - lol its a brand of soil, just wanted to know if you knew anything good or bad about the brand

mediamaker2000 Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - Never heard of it. Have you tried it?

glass509 Says:

Feb 14, 2012 - Try planting a few patches of wildflowers around your lettuce garden, anything sweet to draw a few of the pests away...For large scale cultivation of lettuce down the road, i will be moving to a greenhouse just to avoid pesticides and herbicides...

PILIPINAS7107 Says:

Feb 14, 2012 - Thanks, but its only an indoor plants, I used the soil that can be bought outside but the plants grow slower that it used to be and its my first time to plant....But this time I will be using pesticide to see the result....

Shawn230230 Says:

Mar 8, 2012 - Mono Wavelength Plant Grow Electrodeless Lamp is a high efficient for the plants compare to the LED lamps. The Life of lamps is over 30,000 - 45,000 hr. The lamps are emitting high quantaum energy. The light of lamps are spread wide and longer than Led lamp. If you want to grow the plant indoor without sun, i recommend the Plant Grow Mono Wavelength Lamps. The Lamps have a peak wavelength of Blue- 450nm and the Red - 640nm. / Watts: Circle type -40w/80w/150w/ 200w / Color- RED, Blue and Mixed

Mar 14, 2012 - I haven't heard of it, we used to own a nursery so I suggest buying a wholesale soil, for lettuce I would say hydroponically in Pvc pipe maybe then just add a bit of compost for nutrients into the water and give it lots of sun.

patriotusa200 Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - hOW LONG DO YOU LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON? ELEC IS NOT CHEAP!

mediamaker2000 Says:

Mar 30, 2012 - During the grow cycle, 16 hours a day, during production cycle, 12 hours a day. If you use T5 bulbs instead of T12 bulbs, you get a lot more light and you can lessen how long you leave them on. If you have south facing windows, you can use that instead of lights!

mediamaker2000 Says:

Mar 30, 2012 - Interesting! I'll have to keep that in mind. How expensive? How many lumens per watt?

patriotusa200 Says:

Mar 30, 2012 - Thank you so very much for the info.

mediamaker2000 Says:

Mar 30, 2012 - You're welcome. I am far from an expert but will offer any help I can.
