Description:
Post to FB: http://on.fb.me/H2OGuns Come on, we've all wondered this. There's been dozens of videos and discussions on the internet about it, but what actually happens?I'm shooting with a high speed camera made by Vision Research. http://www.visionresearch.com/Contact-Us/Contact-Form/ - Click here and tell them Destin sent you! That will be fun.http://www.visionresearch.com/ - Click for high speed video awesomenessAWESOME MUSIC INFO:"Rep By Pop" Written and recorded by James Cleary and A Shell in the Pit with bass by Neil Towers. You can get the song here:http://ashellinthepit.bandcamp.com/track/02-rep-by-popSeveral before/after experiments have been performed, but they all have one flaw. It's extremely difficult to visualize what is going on with the flow-fields of the weapon blasts during the time of firing. We planned and assembled several different assets including a high speed camera over a few months and then ran a test designed specifically to allow the viewer to observe the gas dynamics in great detail!Needless to say, this was a blast. Well, two blasts if you want to be technical about it (and we usually do).I performed an experiment to see what the differences were between semi-automatic pistols and revolvers. The advantage of shooting under water is that you can see the boundary of the gas flow fields almost perfectly.

unknwn55 Says:
May 26, 2012 - While a cartridge does contain the oxidizer that allows the powder to ignite, water still does contain oxygen, and a "bullet" is the projectile, and as such contains neither.

malixth Says:
May 27, 2012 - While revolvers do lose some force to the side blowout, it is comparable to the energy required to compress the spring mechanism in automatics which also robs the projectile of power.

May 27, 2012 - What I learned today: You can write on a bagel with a sharpie!! Awesome! j/k Love your vids! THis one was very cool. Love the slow mo and the difference of how the gases are expelled.

May 27, 2012 - you pulled that bagle out of nowhere man.
KD7VCF Says:
May 28, 2012 - You're absolutely right about the revolver wasting energy from the gases escaping through that gap. That's why Leon Nagant designed a "gas seal" revolver in 1895, for Russia.

May 28, 2012 - Very good job, just next time make the weight under the handguns heavier or fasten it down; making me very nervous yanking on the string, that barrel could go anywhere.
pv2haisch Says:
May 29, 2012 - lol why wouldnt it be possible? if u know anythin about anythin obviously u would know its gonna work, especially in 4 inches of water, literally no pressure at all. im not sayin ur gonna get a full primer strike everytime or at 100 yards your gonna get 1/2 MOA if your usin a rifle, but its mechanics, especially with a tight seal on all your cartridges.
sarcich Says:
May 29, 2012 - HE Shot sponge bob!
