The City chose to build the WTC instead of building a new tunnel and large bridge over the Hudson River.5. The World Trade Center was designed by architect Minoura Yamasaki.6. According to Yamasaki, downtown Manhattan was the perfect place to erect the towers because there wasn't "a single building worth saving in the neighborhood."7. Owners of nearby buildings disagreed, and delayed demolition by three weeks with their protests.8. Sixteen blocks were cleared to house the completed WTC.9. More than 10,000 workers involved in building the complex.10. More than 60 of them died during construction.11. Feb 28, 2012 - Yea, looking forward for the memorial to open for the public this September 11th. I don't care how much it cost, I want to visit it and give my respect to the people who died on 9/11/01.

Mar 1, 2012 - The memorial means well, but it looks like an open wound on New York and America. We need to rebuild the Twin Towers as they were. I'm actually writing a paper on that now. Of course in a New Twin Towers there would be a memorial but the wading pools are terrible.

Mar 2, 2012 - I don't know if you did any research before, but there was plans on rebuilding the Twin Towers exactly the way they were, but more stronger, I think it suppose to be at least 20 or 30 ft taller than the originals, and it would have heavy duty steel that are used today on new buildings. The memorial was going to be totally different with the original Twin Towers base and flags surrounding it and inside the base was monuments of the people who died on that specific tower.

May 7, 2012 - It was an inside job that brought the towers down in that amount of time. If you look at other videos you can see windows blasting out from the lower levels as it crumbled. Cold steel and cement below the fires and damage area would have held the building up only with the top falling off.

May 12, 2012 - so i supposed windsor tower in madrid does not 'expand' as much as the twin towers, or perhaps wtc7 too despite the windsor tower was on fire for 18 hrs? of coz, someone would say the twin towers debris weaken wtc7 structure. cut the crap. buildings don't collapse straight down. the only way buildings could do that is with evry columns cut or weaken in orderly manner, not by fire or by quake or both. these are the words of hundreds of civil engineers and demolition experts.

Feb 28, 2012 - Yes, I'm aware of that but those are just surroundings. The main one is the freedom tower. I'm just upset that they didn't make a second one, you know a twin. Hopefully some time in the future they can have the chance to make the twin. I can look over my window and see the freedom tower already. Can't wait for it to be completed, they said by the end of this year it will be completed, but will open spring of 2013.
