He runs out of road, hits a brick wall, and ends up right back where he started.This is a sad song. Purposely left unfinished, ended on A# when the progression actually ends on a G. Implying that he ran out of time, hence the posters everywhere "Time is the killer". His only reconciliation is the fact that he influenced a child who may succeed where he did not. That's why his smirk is bittersweet.
