Jan 26, 2012 - Hi!...1958...for future reference...I discovered a handy little tool a year or so ago. In most cases...if you go to Google (or your search engine of choice) and type in Sarah Vaughan discography (or whoever you are looking up) you should find some options on which to click to find albums, singles, and a whole bunch of other info regarding the singer/group, including the song year. I am fortunate enough to own the '45...flip side "Misty"(1959)...great stuff!...Tunesmith

Feb 13, 2012 - Sara Vaughan - simply one of the greatest singers of her era. I liked her treatment of songs better than Ella Fitzgerald....more lyrical.

jimaroo100 Says:

Feb 15, 2012 - One of the measures of a truly great singer is the ability to transform ordinary material or arrangements into som eting great. And she does it here... I don't care much for the song and the arrangement is terrible but Miss Sarah makes it great. Now that is talent!

Mar 5, 2012 - me too, even though I am not really very old, but i have always loved the older eras as 1940-1960's. Better music, elegant outfit and people more simple and helpful too.

Mar 14, 2012 - Hey Karen.....I was born in 1951. It was terrific growing up in those days. We had Father Knows Best, The Donna Reed Show, My Three Sons and let's never forget "The Little Rascals". Very special times and lots of eventful memories.

Mar 14, 2012 - Those times were the best. Period. So much much class and elegance and amazing music. I was born in 1965, but THANK GOD I had parents that showed me the beauty and importance of the 1950's. Thank you for posting this! One of my favs!

Apr 6, 2012 - Remember my parents playing this song on their hi-fi when i was a litle kid.Never forgot that voice and the guitar player.Fantastic memories.

d820m Says:

Apr 9, 2012 - she herself said that she thought the song was "corny".....she would still sing the song in concert but not with the original arrangement

rayjoy58 Says:

Apr 9, 2012 - will we ever return to great music like this?

MrBargill Says:

Apr 10, 2012 - OMG! Thanks for posting.

elamite66 Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - Different arrangement or not it was Sarah's biggest selling record not that the taste of the masses rules if it did think of all the good music that would be lost classical jazz and so much more Me I like a wide variety of music but I habe to admit that the best of R&B R&R and blues

d820m Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - the point i was trying to make was that someone said that she didn't sing it at all in concert afterwards, she did, just not in the arrangement that it was recorded originally and even though it was her biggest hit in terms of the pop charts, she still thought it was a corny song

d820m Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - Mercury records was trying to do for her what they were doing for Dinah Washington around the same time with her "What a Difference a Day Makes" (#4 Pop)

elamite66 Says:

Apr 14, 2012 - I believe you're right However Sarah was more self critical of "Broken Hearted Melody"

xLovelyThorns Says:

May 26, 2012 - This makes me wish I was born back when artists like her where around. Such amazing music! Sadly I have to put up with today artists like Justin Bieber, One Direction and so forth. /: Thank god for recordings though!
