Feb 12, 2012 - Each responds to a different musical and emotional cue in me. I also love all three. I'd also add Anita D'Day as a favorite. But I'm glad you didn't mention Carmen McRae, whom I have never had a feel for.

Feb 17, 2012 - @astrotype. Is there anyway you can post the video of her singing "What Now My Love"? How can I get a hold of this video.

Mar 19, 2012 - i heard of her name mentioned somewhere before. just surfing youtube and i got in here and this is my first time ever to hear this take of this song from this woman. and i'm impressed with that voice of hers, so i listened till the end of the song. at first, i also thought there was a similarity with her voice and roberta flack who i loved very much vocally. this is so cool! thanks!
peg1202 Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - Roberta Flack rocks, but women like Ms. Sarah here, are the ones who paved the way to women like her and Gladys Knight and Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin. They then paved for Diana Krall, Amy Winehouse and Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rachelle Ferrell, Dianne Reeves, Nnenna Freelon and Cassandra Wilson. No need to remove the Jazz category from the agenda, we still have some good stuff to listen to.

Apr 10, 2012 - from Jose' Sepulveda, the Kid From L.A.....first of all, let me confess that I know practically nothing about jazz....I am a classicist in the truest sense of the word but I am beginning to perceive a true connection between the two genres....something I have never detected before in my life. This woman is so incrdible I can scarcely believe what I am hearing....like a hot cup of expresso downed when you start to feel drowsy.....rich and full and warm going down....what an AMAZING performance!
TheGeniusOfMozart Says:
Apr 15, 2012 - Nat King Cole's version is the best in my opinion. I also like Sinatra's version. I also like Sarah Vaughan's version but it is a bit too slow in my opinion.

Apr 20, 2012 - Before there was singing, Sarah was. This is Quantum Singing!
Marielaureification Says:
Apr 21, 2012 - At first, I was thinking... damn, this is too slow, I like it with more swing. But then it caught me, I dived into the long warm continuum of vibration. A bit like Hermeterec's 'hot cup of expresso...'. Waow.
pgunnels1955 Says:
Apr 22, 2012 - Vocally, Sarah was the most outrageously talented. I wish someone had written an opera for her. Billie didn't have the voice, but she had the interpretation, such that she changed forever the way that female vocalists would sing henceforth. Then there is Ella who just put it all together, without the vocal heft of Sarah, or the tortured emotion of Billy, but who, nonetheless, took jazz vocals to another place.

pnyc1969 Says:
May 7, 2012 - I have my Sarah days and my Ella days. Sarah when I'm feeling drama and passion; Ella when I'm feeling pitch and precision. I have to say that altho I greatly appreciate Billie I don't search out her music. She doesn't have a tone that appeals to me for more than a few songs. One jazz lady I never took to is Carmen McRae. Unappealing to my ears.
