Sep 26, 2010 - "we have two sets of spark plugs"? No sir, you have two magnetos
deathleader52 Says:
Oct 6, 2010 - There are two spark plugs per cylinder for performance. But when you do the mag check, you are checking the magnetos, or devices that generate the electric current for the spark plugs.

Nov 16, 2010 - he tried to make it simple by saying spark plugs because the magnetos in a plane are like the spark plugs in a car. he just tryied to make where most people could understand.
salemcripple Says:
Nov 29, 2010 - Magneto systems still use spark plugs. A magneto is a device that is is used to generate a current (as well as provide spark timing) using an embedded permanent magnet in the crankshaft or flywheel. Such systems still do use spark plugs and wires for igniting the fuel. They do not however need battery voltage, a distributor, points, or an ignition coil like they systems used on ordinary cars.

Nov 30, 2010 - no shit im a pilot myself
salemcripple Says:
Nov 30, 2010 - oh. It seemed like you were trying to say a magneto ignition system didn't use spark plugs
manifestgtr Says:
Feb 6, 2011 - it may seem obvious but he didn't mention to make sure you have plenty of pressure on the brakes...early on I was going through a run-up and gradually eased the pressure on the brakes without realizing it and neither myself nor the instructor realized for a few seconds that we were slowly rolling forward...couldve proven to be very dangerous under certain situations...and I'm one of those guys who would normally say something like "only an idiot would do that"...

TheMeslava Says:
May 3, 2011 - Well if you actually know how to fly, and you know the procedure, and how it actually works, what they are saying is not that complicated, and it makes sense and is good to review for when you get in the cockpit... it also saves a hell of a lot of money to know this stuff because your engine is running and the hobbs meter is ticking. So you haters of this video (No I do not like expertvillage) should at least give it consideration that it does show some good things to people who need review.

Jan 19, 2012 - does airlines ever train you so u dont have to spend the money, and if they do choose to train u do u have to know how to fly a cessna or something, and lastly on 0.51 u test the rudder isnt that bad for the nose wheel when stationary? thx
cba999casey Says:
Jan 21, 2012 - i have a puller switch , ALTN AIR. in my default cessna in flight sim . any idea what it does?
5StarDirector Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - Shutting down the alternator for an engine run-up is no longer recommended, as the restart of it causes a spike in charge, possibly causing damage to the battery.
