Apr 1, 2012 - Everyday, I wonder why my teachers send me online to learn. Why can't they teach me themselves?

jbyxxx Says:

Th3lite Says:

Apr 6, 2012 - I agree why would I pay thousands of dollard to go to college when they send me home to learn the work online.

BarriBumgarner Says:

Apr 8, 2012 - Research proves that technology can improve teaching. I am a teacher conducting research for my PhD, and learning by doing is proven to be far more effective than lecturing. The failure of our schools is teaching to the test. Real-world application are what will improve education, and technology allows us to do that. Students can be taught how to write a story in a digital context too. Preschoolers are doing it every day right now...they're learning faster than ever using digital tools.

BarriBumgarner Says:

Apr 8, 2012 - Because teaching is about discovery and YOU gaining the knowledge, not handing it to you. Do you learn to drive a car by how someone tells you to do it? No, you're given the basic knowledge and then sent to a car to practice. Going online is the same as getting into your car.

Apr 8, 2012 - Play the video again and you will see that the video is expressing how much K-12 children use technology in their daily lives. These kids are plugged into technology and understand the digital language because they were born into it. Humans learn by experience and not from being told or talked at. We learn best by discovery. I am a teacher and my students enjoy discovery learning instead of being lectured to. If you do the research you will see that this video is right on the money. :-)

Apr 10, 2012 - DIGITAL STORYTELLING SOFTWARE?! It's called a book! You see the story, concepts or information in your mind, you hear the author's voice . . . and learn to envision things, to teach yourself, gain your own voice. 2 hours a week is PATHETIC!Oh man . . . people in the future are going to be retarded zombies! These kids . . . if they aren't hooked up to some device, they can't function! It's like life-support. They would DIE without it . . . !

Apr 12, 2012 - I hear people say that all we will be doing in school by 2020 is being on the computer with no teacher, just " learning " by " studying " etc

UnrealVirusInfection Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - I dont see why the technology part matters. It should rather be a choice of public or home schooling. If i wanted to do homeschooling i dont care if its for the technology but instead use it for the atmosphere. Im thinking about it next year

MultiCounseling Says:

May 18, 2012 - I get it! They want us to teach them academic content using new media technology, and why not?!? It makes sense! We are preparing them to enter the 21st century workforce. My concern is I don't have the time that these digital natives have to explore new media technolgies. I guess I'll need to ask them to teach me. I teach them academic content, they teach me new media technology, together we can learn!
