Description:
FOR TOOLS & INFORMATION: http://dcmf.ca/toolsThis film was made possible thanks to the generosity of real Canadians and Americans whose lives have been touched by melanoma. These are not actors. We cannot thank this group enough for sharing their stories with us.We'd also like to thank Freelance Whales, the New York-based group who've lent their song, Generator ^ First Floor, to our film. They're incredibly talented - we thank them for their support and encourage you to find out more about them at http://freelancewhales.com.Over the past year, we've received messages from all around the world from people whose lives have been touched by this film. Thank you so much for reaching out to us, we're humbled by the support you've shown. We've also been flattered to see a number of other films "inspired by" Dear 16-year-old Me: this is fantastic! We would ask that, in the spirit of mutual support, filmmakers who've taken inspiration from this work acknowledge as much by providing a credit and a link back. Thank you so much for watching & please pass this along.

May 21, 2012 - im over seas in a third world country and I kind of dont trust the doctors here. I have a mole that changed the way it looks. Im going to the doctor tomorrow but if he says "oh you are fine take care" and turns out that im not... how would I ever know? Is there a website i can go to and show them a picture of it so they can see for themselves? Or must it be in person?

May 23, 2012 - By statistic numbers more people die of having a normal cold inn norway then people dies world wide of melanoma. Why not spread awareness of something thats actually dangerous? First bird flu, then swine flu, whats next? Its such bullshit. And I`m honest to god sick of having to hear about tragic stories about a disease thats so rare almost no one dies from it. I cant wait for the next black plague, then maybe people wont complain about everything. You are healthy now.... get over it...

suziclingerman Says:

May 23, 2012 - As a former hospice worker, I can tell you that this is a devastating disease. This is one cancer that is preventable. I have seen what this has done to a family with young children. Thankfully, when I had a biopsy done about a year ago, it was negative. That will be a wakeup call for many people. But, please, don't make comments that make fun of this.... it can happen to toy!

Ga2003Le Says:

May 23, 2012 - You don't know if people watching/commenting on this are healthy? How can you comment on a video about cancer tellin' people GET OVER IT ??

May 27, 2012 - This inspired me to stop trying to tan. I'm extremely fair and I lay out anyway. I've gotten 2-3 really bad burns in the past month and those haven't been my only ones ever. I'm okay with it though. I'll be the woman with sun-damage free skin when me and all my friends are in our 40's-50's. And hopefully, I'll be melanoma free. :)
