Sep 12, 2011 - Well....I must agree with this guy, sometimes we are so driven to reach our potential that we miss, or almost miss, God's calling for us!! Almost happened to me! I wonder how many other things I missed because I was trying to reach my "potential" when God wanted me over there doing something else

Nov 10, 2011 - God bless you pastor Drisscol! Sometimes people of God in the ministry are more focused on what they can do, on what could be useful which is not necessary a priority for their calling. It is like seeking the blessings first before the Kingdom of God.God's call is specific and it is a command and not and option among other things.

EnvyMy75 Says:

Nov 13, 2011 - I'm actually right in the thick of this right now. The problem I'm having is that I have ADHD, and even in complete silence my train of thought only lasts about 10 seconds. Is it poor faith for me to be prepared for God to speak to me, but not expect him to?

guidobambino Says:

Dec 4, 2011 - Hmm..I'd say it depends on how you expect to hear from God. faith comes from hearing the word of God, so I'd say God speaks to us mainly when we read Scripture, listen to sound biblical teaching, meditate on our spiritual health, etc.

Mar 12, 2012 - Had Jesus stayed, He wouldn't have been reaching His full potential by embracing His call. He'd be squandering His potential.

Mar 12, 2012 - Is Mark addicted to power? Is his wife addicted to manipulation, fame and victimization? The people they are hurting the most are their children. Mark is so filled with rage, he gets off on making people angry. He and Grace are slandering Jesus as they promote themselves and SELL what Jesus already paid the price for. Their children will one day suffer the effects of their parents addictions, which are now public. Any love, patience, joy, gentleness in their ministry? No fruit no Jesus!

clom801 Says:

Mar 16, 2012 - This is what we should pursue-Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

speedywaves Says:

Mar 21, 2012 - I'm happily married and pursuing my call in God. Wow I feel for the single people.....

Mar 23, 2012 - Great, another azzhole with a book can he think he best friend with Jesus. "Jesus said..". "That his.." Oh shut up, go scare your own kids.

Mar 26, 2012 - I'd love to be around when pastor Mark and the committed Paul get talking in heaven: I imagine Paul had a similar passion and focus:That's how he got the gospel to Asia Minor: go Mark! Thanks for your teaching: contemporary and relevant!

Apr 13, 2012 - what you're saying could be very heretical. in some sense, your potential is your calling. but, obedience is the only way to grow in faith. also, a calling is not some ideal state you are to reach. a calling is what you are to be odedient in. for instance, our first calling was to repent. our next calling was to pray for Jesus to take control of our lives.making something of yourself pails in comparison to praying for the Holy Spirit to do the work. do you think it is up to you to save ppl?

Apr 13, 2012 - ...what is the point of your post?

JeffersonDinedAlone Says:

Apr 16, 2012 - Marriage is not a calling. It is an arrangement based upon a mutual decision. A calling is merely a rather simplistic definition of your life work.

regelemihai Says:

Apr 19, 2012 - He's talking about following your calling, not scaring you. If you don't liek the message, might I suggest watching ...something different? Brilliant, right?

stanthema Says:

Apr 25, 2012 - You are def correct that God has equipped you to fulfill your calling, but Marc has a point. Jesus could have stayed on a hill and just heal people, but instead he went else where to preach. Also, people's potential can be arranged in many different orders of priority to achieve many different careers, however, people only have one God-given calling.

estuchedepeluche Says:

May 3, 2012 - What if you calling is to be an oil company CEO, coal extracting executive, an arms dealer, a drug lord or a stripper?

tosinsbibleblog Says:

May 19, 2012 - I have written an article response to this video on my blog: 19 May 2012: Purpose, Potential, Passion - and Prayer!I definitely agree that we should pursue our calling over our potential, but perhaps the two can sometimes legitimately coincide?

tosinsbibleblog Says:

May 19, 2012 - Furthermore, Pastor Mark uses the example of Jesus as a preaching missionary: I think that most Christians would agree that Jesus had a very specific purpose -- and necessarily so. Not just anyone could go to the Cross and die for the sins of humanity, after all. Perhaps for the rest of us our purpose does not have to be as sharply defined as it was with Jesus -- simply because it does not *need* to be

alexanderuk111 Says:

May 25, 2012 - God likes to take the lowly things of this world and use them for his glory. He can do anything with a person who loves him no matter how talentless, unskilled, and uneducated they are. There is more glory to him if he rises them up. Jesus picked 12 of little influence and subsequently used them to transform the world. Anyway, there are and have been plenty of very successful Christians, list is endless. The question is, how many use their influence solely for Gods glory with no notion of self.
