May 22, 2012 - I was a teenager in the 80s, and today I keep listening from people from all walks of life, including today's teenagers, of why the 80s along with its music, was so special and meaningful. The answer may never be fully understood my friends. It may have been a combination of the music, our restless generation, and the fact that nothing ever stays the same and we just happened to be transitioning into another era at the end of the 80s which made it so noticeable.

May 22, 2012 - Even today--my heart is free despite all the bs that our 'leaders' are feeding us. They will NEVER take this away from me.

May 23, 2012 - TO ALL PEOPLE THAT WERE SOMEHOW PART OF THE WONDERFUL 80S, I SALUTE YOU ALL!! WE WERE PART OF A SPECIAL ERA THAT WILL PROBABLY NEVER, EVER BE DUPLICATED--AND WITH THE CONSOLATION THAT LONG AFTER WE ARE GONE, WE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR OUR MUSIC AND HOW ALL OF US CREATED AN ERA LIKE NO OTHER!

May 24, 2012 - This was before cell phones and commonplace computers. Life was simpler, yet still complicated enough. We saw the change of the world that will NEVER turn back... technology. We were there at the beginning. Things have gotten worse because of technology. Remember when we just had to be home at 8/9/10pm .. no calling, no cell phones, just be home. Remember when we had to send snail mail or use the land line to call people instead of texting. Things will never be the same, good or bad, it's over.

May 24, 2012 - I have to disagree; especially since u posted ur comment in a music video section. The ONLY thing that I regret about the Government in Ronald Reagan's Presidency wasn't the Iran Contra ordeal, but that "legislatures" put music on trial in the 80's with the Senate having Congressional Hearings which resulted in Twisted Sister having to defend themselves and their lyrics after a boy allegedly played an album backwards and committed suicide. The end product was Parental Advisory Warning Labels.

May 24, 2012 - The '80s were my favorite time of life, not only because of the music but because the effect Ronald Reagan had on society in restoring pride and hope to our country which influenced musicians. On a side note, I was in love with Rebecca De Mornay. The role she played as a hooker in the movie Risky Business (which made Tom Cruise, not Top Gun) landed her the role of Sara in this music video. I loved her in the remake of And God Created Woman singing the song "Too Far Gone".

May 24, 2012 - Even songs I HATED in the 80's (because I was a rocker boy) I now love to hear over a lot of today's music. I listen to 80's music now that I hated then, and know all the lyrics and sing along lol.

WhatIsMyCharisma Says:
May 24, 2012 - Technology flourished in the 80's. Mtv and synthesized music paved the way. Remember Thomas Dolby's "Blinded Me With Science", Herbie Hancock's "Rock It", Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F" (played in Beverly Hills Cop) and Jan Hammer's "Miami Vice Theme Song"? The ideas that played out in movies of the 80's caused a lot of inventions of today to exist, not to mention there WERE cell phones back then (though they were huge, ugly and expensive)
meleeECI Says:
May 24, 2012 - I started selling Cell phones in 1992 and they were still in full briefcase sized packages. About late 92 we started getting handheld motorola "Bricks". Yes there were computers, but nothing like the all encompassing computers we have today. Synth rock/pop/new wave is awesome. Depeche Mode is my favorite band to this day.
