Apr 10, 2012 - I can't think of the best words to describe Tom Waits. So many superlatives fit him. I simply tell my friends about him and suggest that they check him out on Youtube. He was unknown to me until about mid-2007 when I heard his ending track for the movie "American Hearts". The song was "I'll Never Let Go of Your Hand" and I played it over and over after the movie ended (I had recorded the movie as I watched it). I began to seek out Tom Waits and found all these treasures on Youtube.

Apr 25, 2012 - Man, I didn't realise the Eagles covered it, let alone that more people seem to know the Eagles version. Bleh.I realise that many, many Waits fans will probably disagree, but I actually prefer the earlier stuff (as much as I do love the more nuts, clinky clunky, howling, raspy stuff!). I absolutely love Closing Time, and I feel it tends to get neglected in favour of swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs et al.
