Apr 15, 2012 - i would like to start sending my stories to magazines. do i have to have a certain number of then or just write and make sure it's good before sending it? because im kinda insecure of not having a complete work yet. most of my stuff are planned novels. but i would like to start doign short stories and poems

Apr 15, 2012 - Bradbury recommends writing & submitting a story a week. Some things to consider:1. Bradbury sold newspapers on the street corner, then chilled at the library. After marriage, he wrote full time. That advice changes w/a full-time job, family responsibilities, attending college, etc.2. Far fewer paying magazines, FAR fewer average folks reading magazines - IE: death of the newsstand.I'd say you only need 1/2 stories that have been read by others, that you feel are ready to send.

Apr 16, 2012 - Lol! Response to #2. I know what you mean, that's why I'm thinking of doing some type of campaign for that on Facebook and Twitter to encourage that literacy. I've started reading, and I always wonder, why?! There're like so good! Sometimes I feel like watching a movie. Thank you for the great advice, I've gotten a list of the magazines and plan to start typing a few more works. I'll get them checked by beta readers I know very well.
