May 3, 2012 - I am nothing and do not claim to have "demonstrated any profound thought" (your words) - You are quick to accuse if one does not think as you do and thus find the need to insult, possibly, because "Truth" I respectfully suggest, cannot be outdone by any man, whether they be Christian, Jew, Muslim or Atheist. Please then allow me to quote a true "profound" thinker, one with a truly beautiful mind; Mohandas "Mohatma" Gandhi:"I may be despicable, but when truth speaks through me I am invincible"
2gointruth Says:
May 4, 2012 - Blame his unruly students if you must, but do not put blame on the honest teacher; for if you blame the teacher, are you yourself not an unruly student? And blame me too if you must, but please do not blame Christ. His true followers are few.

May 4, 2012 - Mr.Dawkins what has God than to you that you hate him(him not her) so much, you are deluded.but God has a day of vengence!

May 5, 2012 - What a truly wise man! If he were a man of God we would call him a saint !
arthurjeremypearson Says:
May 6, 2012 - God created Hell. God is silent and invisible. God lets you fall into Hell.John creates a spiked pit trap in a room. John blindfolds you. John put you in the room with the trap and doesn't tell you about the trap.Your version of God is as evil as John is.

May 6, 2012 - The CRIME of 911 was never justification for invading another country. While a compelling story, it is and was an insignificant threat blown out of proportion by the media AND Bush. The fact of terrorism is that it is a 1 in a million threat. Evidence:US govt statistics on terrorism: average 1000 deaths worldwide per year due to int. terrorism, including 911.6 billion population of Earth. You do the math.

May 6, 2012 - My stance is 911 was never justification for invading another country. While a compelling story, it is and was an insignificant threat blown out of proportion by the media AND Bush. The fact of terrorism is that it is a 1 in a million threat. Evidence:US govt statistics on terrorism: average 1000 deaths worldwide per year due to int. terrorism, including 911.6 billion population of Earth.Just some food for thought.
insideous57 Says:
May 8, 2012 - I've done the math, but I'm still coming out with about 1000 preventable deaths. Am I missing something here?
arthurjeremypearson Says:
May 8, 2012 - Yes.The word "preventable."This implies that it is something we should make an effort to prevent above and beyond normal common sense.I say it is not. The level of threat is not significant enough to worry anyone. The largest amount of damage done by 911 is what we did to OURSELVES. Overreacting. Bending over backward. Enacting restrictive and invasive laws. Shutting down borders.Acting AFRAID after an act of TERRORISM.Need I explain more?
insideous57 Says:
May 8, 2012 - So, you would have done nothing in response to 911?"We're not afraid of you; if you want to bomb our buildings, we'll let you right on through with the guns and explosives because you won't scare us."I'm not vindicating the totalitarian laws put in place in the United States after this tragedy, but being a total pacifist under the guise of not "acting afraid" does strike me as even worse.
arthurjeremypearson Says:
May 8, 2012 - Yes. I personally would have done nothing. Trusting the cops and whomever prosecutes international crimes to handle it.That's the thing. What they did was a crime, perpetrated by crazy people. You can't stop crazy people from existing. They're out there. They commit crimes and kill people. These guys were just crazy people who all drank the kool aid and took some of us with them.Terrorism. Is. Not. A. Valid. Threat.Infections. Diseases. Heart problems. Cancer. Stroke. THESE are threats.
insideous57 Says:
May 9, 2012 - It is true you can't stop crazy people from existing, but that's hardly a reason tp accept their crimes. Rapists will probably always be 'out there' too, but there's a moral reason that we don't go "You know what, since it'll happen anyway, go ahead guys."It is also true that the medical problems you mentioned do kill orders of magnitude more people than terrorism, but that just makes terrorism a less significant threat; it is still killing people, and that can be prevented.
arthurjeremypearson Says:
May 9, 2012 - When did I say I accepted their crimes? I said "Trusting the cops and whomever prosecutes international crimes to handle it." Of course they should be held accountable, but we don't need to kill ourselves to get it done. Like we did. Like we are.

May 10, 2012 - religion...lol
XCDaoustX Says:
May 10, 2012 - I cant help but point out that anyone who knows anything about evolution WOULD say we came from apes. We are apes. Apes are primates that lack a tail. I think you mean we don't come from Chimpanzees, but your right in a sense they're our cousins. I feel a little bad criticising someone who I probably agree with, however I'm sure you appreciate the value of truth and wont get "offended" or have your "feelings hurt" by my correction :)
XCDaoustX Says:
May 10, 2012 - actually technically were, rather arrogantly, called great apes. But I think you get my point lol.
mikethedevil10 Says:
May 10, 2012 - Dawkins kicks religion's sorry ass.
Dorkus89Malorkus Says:
May 11, 2012 - Lynchburg,,,,? REALLY? LYNCHburg...
omgtkseth Says:
May 12, 2012 - Richard Dawkins has a different definition for the word apes (its not a technical term, so its quite varied). He has said that humans are in fact african apes. The word ape, in a broad sense, means monkey without a tail. We are primates without a tail, and in fact, we are as different from gorillas as orangutans are from gorillas, according to genome research, so its a cultural delimitation, calling ourselves non-ape primates. Its more precise to call call apes non-human apes, than the former
Mmmathers4 Says:
May 17, 2012 - If people who complained about evolution would take the time to understand their 'enemy', we wouldn't have to take the time to defend ourselves. yes, life can be explained without your creator having a hand. yes, we are working on the problem of the universe creating itself. that does not mean we are WRONG just that people smarter than all of us DO NOT KNOW and are actively seeking the information that will free us all from this tyranny of religion. No specifically of course, I know religion.
jfeltes Says:
May 21, 2012 - Yeah, we are apes just different kinds of apes.
shongrocks1622 Says:
May 22, 2012 - 3:34, lecture starts.
Somai82 Says:
May 25, 2012 - Do you know the creationists' explanation as to why reptilian fossils are found deeper than mammalian ones?Mammals are smarter than reptiles and when the giant flood came, the mammals were smart enough to run to higher ground before being drowned. Not a joke.

Cartr1dgeBased Says:
May 2, 2012 - they're not mutually exclusive. but you have too much time on your hands which you should spend educating yourself in formal courses and of course take an autodidact approach to go along with it.also, you're no Socratic gadfly as that seems to be the approach you are at least attempting to take. just a time sink. you've not demonstrated any profound thought or anything worth further consideration, just nonconstructive babble.
