I'm not laying blame (i mean i can't personally hate every 13-year-old girl who likes the jonas brothers), but those who pay for something most definitely are the reason it's made. That can be blamed on the consumers, or their parents, or society, or the sellers, i'm not sure. But whoever causes the people to buy what they do is causing the problem, which is the buying itself

Jan 24, 2010 - agreed. but in my opinion the simple idea of advertisement is the problem. why should a product have to talk itself up? why should it have to say what it is, when in fact, it is what it is. music should sell itself i think. and consumer reports should be held at a higher standard than whatever it is i see advertised. advertisement only means that they had money to pay for that position. that doesn't mean that they deserve that position. but as consumers we should rise against what is pushed

Although not all advertising is bad, some of it is doing harm. What about the roles of society in making something popular? There's the snowball effect too, that goes beyond advertising
