The lie was what he needed healing for. Don't judge the song. God is healer, just because the guy lied about how God was healing him doesn't mean that God isn't a truly Great Healer.

Because at bad as cancer is, sin is much worse not only destroying the body (in some cases) but destroying the eternal soul. Even though he didn't need healing for cancer, he needed healing from sin. And God delivered him. God can take evil and use it for good. He can use anything to glorify Him.
