May 24, 2012 - No, dance through the centuries was always for men and women - all forms of dance from peasant & folk dancing to courtly entertainment was not considered anything but a perfectly normal way of exercise, social engagemnet and entertainment. Only in our 'civilised' times do idiots (usually ignorant couch potatoes) consider dancing effeminate. Men in ages past had to be good at fighting (as in battle!) and dancing to be considered civilised.
