Comparing their quality and assembly to Mini's is Apples and Oranges.As to stripping a car down and rebuilding. A very viable alternate to a new car. I have a 1967 Checker Marathon I bought with 400,000 miles on it. and its built like a tank! I rebuilt it from frame up & have put another 134,000 on it and its still going strong.

Unless the second arm has multipurpose and could be programmed for different taskings, I feel this step could be accomplished and costs could be reduced perhaps by using a single "swinging arm" to perform the same task. The engineers who built the machines are genius but the processes with that part of the assemble line could possibly be improved. Operational success lacks when cost effectiveness is compromised.
