May 10, 2012 - Steel. Wooden coasters have flatten steel strips on laminated wooden track. Steel coasters have all steel track like the New Texas Giant. The supports don't matter concerning what makes a coaster steel, or wooden, it's all about the top track.

May 13, 2012 - True, but the term 'hybrid' is just a sub-catergory. The terms 'wood or steel' are the only two types of rollercoaster, and the NTG falls into the 'steel' type because of the top track.

May 16, 2012 - on one hand, they kind of ruined the coaster by destroying it's reputation as a pure wooden coaster, but on the other hand, i can now ride this thing without getting migraines.

May 17, 2012 - lol i don't think there's any such thing as steel supports and wood track.. I don't think they'll be making too many actual tracks out of wood. Would they use wood wheels on the coaster trains too?

May 17, 2012 - "REAL POV" my ass. this vid would be cool if I wasn't staring at the back of two fat guys the whole time that blocked the view with their fat and their huge arms. If the park won't let you do a "REAL POV", next time might I suggest asking that no one ride in the front seats? Or at least wait for the next two skinny hot chicks in line and ask them to please keep their arms down???

May 17, 2012 - well, even the tracks that have layers of wood supporting the track, such as the viper or american eagle both at great america, have steel in the center of the layers, and there is steel on steel track-wheel action. It's not actually rolling on wood. Check out the POV's to see what I mean. But I suppose you might call that a wood track anyways

May 17, 2012 - Al wooden coasters have a layer of steel tracking on the top (except maybe the side-friction ones). But I meant the general track structure made of wood.
