From the Academy Award nominated director of 'Twilight Samurai". Munezo Katagiri (Masatoshi Nagase), an honest and low ranking samurai is trapped in a state of personal and professional imbalance. Secretly in love with his family's maid, Kie (Takako Tabata), Munezo begins an uneasy courtship with her, knowing that a relationship is impossible.Raised to respect traditions from the past and the demanding moral code of the samurai, circumstances have now forced Munezo to look to the future. Required to master western military strategies, particularly the art of artillery, Munezo is ordered to find and kill Yaichiro, a former friend, samurai, and brilliant swordsman. Munezo knows that he cannot beat Yaichiro with fire power alone, so he enlists the help of his old teacher, Kansai Toda, a master swordsman who entrusts Munezo with the secret and power of The Hidden Blade. Coming to Theaters and DVD this July.

Apr 28, 2011 - 山田洋二監督の時代劇三部作全部好きですが、その中でも鬼の爪は秀逸だと思います。そして長瀬さんの演技が渋い！！The casting and the storyline are excellent!!I I like Nagase-san since I was a high school boy.I think this movie and the rest of the trilogy are some of the best japanese film.If you haven't seen this movie yet. Watch this!! You wouldn't regret!!

Mar 30, 2012 - Assasin's Creed would look like a noob compare to this one. Assasins dont make open war like warrior that will kill everything ( if u do open war, u are not assasin anymore but u are a soldier, a warrior...see how he killed his own friend as a warrior without using his ultimate skill the hidden blade ). But in game, assasins must become a warrior, killing machine, so they lose their job.

Apr 2, 2012 - I wonder if Toda sensei is the same teacher mentioned in Twilight Samurai (who taught Seibei how to use the kodachi). Both films are from the same writer and both stories happen about the same era (right before Meiji era).
