May 28, 2011 - Very good technique. I'm learning the trade on a professional level. I made tufted chairs and had to curve the foam over the seat back. I used the same technique to do it, and it made my life a lot easier to staple the fabric over the edge. It had a prettier finished look to it. Everyone in my class thought it was a neat trick. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.

May 31, 2011 - @Shahlamarie. Yes you are right when dealing with arms backs or anything that you cannot handle like the stool or a drop in seat it will certainly help to staple the foam first becasue it is not possible to apply the even weight in the same way to stick the edge down. Good to know you are training to be a professional we can't get enought good upholsterers in the trade. Consumers are beginning to recognise quality and be prepared to pay for it these days.

Mar 29, 2012 - thanks for that demo. I had been wondering how the upholsters created a curve on my motorhome cushions and now I know. Simple when you know how!i think that you are dead right about todays consumers looking for better quality and uniqueness and being prepared to pay for it too. As a nation we have been obsessed for too long about buying down to a cost its about time things came full circle and consumers started to appreciate that quality can mean longetivity as well as better performance.

Apr 4, 2012 - wow what a statement. here here I believe in exactly what you have just said. Things may cost slightly more but in the long run will last for many more years to come.
