May 20, 2012 - I spent 9 years in the Australian army and that included 12 months in iraq and 22 months in Astan. My father 20 odd years with a number of deployments including 3 tours of vietnam. once as a kiwi, twice as an australian. Im fairly familiar with australian military doctrine ;)

May 21, 2012 - LEST WE FORGET- rip for those soldiers who represented our country xx
Kokoda144 Says:
May 21, 2012 - do you understand where that doctrine came from? it just doesn't pop up over night, it is built upon experience from previous wars. ours being Kokoda, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam. you are telling me that the US had the same experience as our troops in jungle and guerilla warfare? I think not, their only experiences is large scale warfare, and they are good at that I have no doubt, but they hardly learnt their lesson from Vietnam by the pure fact they went into Afghanistan.
Kokoda144 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Afganistan will not be won over night just like Vietnam took a decade to even get the smallest results. the US is stubborn. they have always snubbed helpful advice off allies since the first world war and they pay for it in blood. yes, they have some decent CQC doctrine, but that does not win you a guerrilla war by any means. at least their success yard stick is not based on body count this time. I would hardly call SAS Brit/Aus the same as the US SF, they don't even do the same core role.

May 21, 2012 - Hahahaha it's funny that you think a 6foot 5 bloke is intimidating these days. like you Mr. Spaz you're funny :)
truberries Says:
May 21, 2012 - Hahahaha aww being a troll is such great fun! but how do you suppose you'll get me Mr. Spaz I'm all the way across the ocean in a place called the U.S

May 21, 2012 - I'd like to thank you for educating me on the military i worked in for 9 years.Im sure your time is valuable what with all the footballers that need your advice about footy , the fish that need to be taught to swim and so on. Look you might have a little experience yourself but i can tell you first hand that apart from some small differences , MY experience in Astan was that it's all fairly standardised now days. The " better trained" thing ( wich is where this started) is frankly bullshit.
Antifaith29 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Look there's nothing wrong with the sentiment and i'll agree that in some cases the ADF excels where others dont much the same as others do where we dont. I apologise for comming over a bit off tap, my exit from the military was medical and i'm a little poisoned as far as the subject matter goes ( military family, im the only one of age that no longer serves , i have a mashed knee and cant walk well let alone run anymore) But, i DO have relatively recent experience as far as it goes ( 07) (cont

May 21, 2012 - But what im trying to get across is that EVERY smaller country says they have the best trained riflemen ect. The whole " were small and dont have all the toys but were all the more awesome for it" thing is almost a cliche now days. Go and talk to the kiwis about the same thing and they'll give you a very familier sounding story. My old man was one of the origonal Grey ghosts. If you dont know the story it's available via a quick google search. I started with 7 brigade ( 6 Bat/RAR) in the LAV's
Antifaith29 Says:
May 21, 2012 - But what i really wanted was to get in with AAVn as a crew cheif or even just a loadie on the 47's. Took a pay cut to basically start again as a refueler but eventually got out and about in the 47's ( CH 47) after a year and a half and did my second stint in Astan ferrying the sftf lads around untill leaving in april 07. I know you didnt ask for a life story , just trying to explain that i have some first hand experience. Not saying im better than anyone , fuck im up at 230 am on a tues
Antifaith29 Says:
May 21, 2012 - morning now, ive had about half a bottle and im crapping on youtube to some bloke i dont know from a bar of soap , yeah im a little bitter lol. ( talk about cliche, right? )Im just trying to put a dose on the whoole " were small but awesome" thing. Not saying the ADF are crooks or anything, as a whole a very profesional outfit but so are the kiwis, the yanks, and in my opinion, especially the poms. We stand with them, not above and not below, with./end semi drunken rant.Have a good one, mate

May 25, 2012 - Justin Bieber's songs can't come close to the meaning of this song. This song was written by a man that went through all the troubles of a war and survived it. It's about how he had to go through all that at the age of nineteen and that even though the war is over, it is still haunting him. I have never been to war so I don't know what it's like first hand but from what I do know about war, it's awful to be stuck in one. I don't see how a song about some pretty girl is more meaningful than that.
K1ttK4t5 Says:
May 25, 2012 - The fact that you find trolling on songs like this fun shows that your understanding of their meaning isn't as good as it could be. The meaning behind this song is very serious. Many boys who were still in their teens had to suffer the same consequences as the man who wrote this song did and it stays with them for the rest of their lives.
Ketrian Says:
May 25, 2012 - Actually, the man who wrote this song is not a veteran, but he spoke to veterans while writing it. Even those who don't fight can honour those that do.
ozzyguy67x Says:
May 25, 2012 - Don't take blueberries seriously. He/she isn't mentally fit enough to even comment on this video let alone say its shit.
ozzyguy67x Says:
May 25, 2012 - Aussie grunts are the same as royal/us marines? I agree.
ozzyguy67x Says:
May 25, 2012 - Grab your foreskin, wrap it around your head and stick a knife in your face, jump off a bridge into an ocean of napalm then bend over while you get anal raped by a bear. Please
VockCelain Says:
May 26, 2012 - Actually, on the same level of the Green Berets - the US Rangers, their very best.

May 28, 2012 - Today I met the son of Frankie (the person who stepped on the mine) and Frankie is still Alive and that Frankie didn't step on the mine, the platoon leader, Skipper, stepped on the mine and that the person who wrote this song was the brother of some1 else in the platoon. I can't remember his name.

Kokoda144 Says:
May 20, 2012 - I don't think he means better trained. More like different tactics. aussie tactics come from a lack of fire support so they had to develop far stronger technics in fighting that most other countries. SASR in vietnam was a good example of this. it was hard to rely on fire support due to weather/jungle. their K/D (which was the american yard stick for measurement of success) was the best of all the forces in Vietnam during that war. This is without fudged figures like Americans used to play.
