May 18, 2012 - Might have been "The Blues Brothers". At the end of the movie in the big chase scene, when the Blues Brothers get to the county office to pay taxes, they get in an elevator, and the muzak version of "Girl From Ipanema" is playing. The comedic effect is the stark contrast between the chilled, laid back muzak tune, and the frantic car chase that had just preceded it, and is even still going on outside the elevator on the floors below. hehe

May 19, 2012 - Actually that's the point of Cool Jazz. The over all feeling of this genre is laid-back, unemotional and musically subdued, is as the name implies, Cool.

May 26, 2012 - The beauty of this is that Astrud was not a professional singer. Getz used her, and she became an overnight sensation. You can see she's not used to being in front of people. What makes it great is the honesty, with Getz playing subdued to match her singing, Classic!

May 28, 2012 - Even though the 60's were some turbulent times the music was for the most part so much more subdued. And I must say our parents had so much more class. This women is gorgeous, classy and sexy. Too bad things aren't like this anymore. Maybe we can bring it back. What goes around comes back around as they say.
