Nov 26, 2009 - I could say that the next Messiah would be female, virgin born, blonde haired, blue eyed, and be named Jean. I could put it in a book and distribute it to the masses. After 9 months, I would have thousands of people coming to my front door, claiming they gave virgin birth, and their Daughters were named Jean. Likewise, I could say that eventually, Jean would be murdered, and I could give details. What I did is laid the path for history, and someone is bound to carry it out.

Nov 26, 2009 - So if this was true stevescott, would we not find dinosaur bones buried along with humans? I mean, if they lived at the same time, we should be able to dig into the Earth to some distant year in the soil, and somewhere around the world, find human skeletons, and dinosaur skeletons at the same depth. To this day, we have found nothing of the sort. In addition to this, your Bible says that dinosaurs (billions of years old) never could have existed. How do you explain this?
stevescott321 Says:
Nov 26, 2009 - Archiologists have found dinosaur footprints with human footprints inside them as if the human stepped in the print shortly after the dino made it. Also, the bible does mention a "large beast" which, was named something else as it was writtin long before the word "dinosaur" was made up. Layers were created, according to the "young earth" theory, by the settling of dirt and debris after the flood and have nothing to do with years. Check out Dr. Kent Hovind. He explains all of these topics.

Nov 26, 2009 - Actually, if you would like, add a yahoo to the end of this account name and id be happy to chat more as it is my email and we wouldnt be limited to a few hundred characters. Or, as I said before, check out Dr. Hovind's debates on youtube and he can explain it better. The majority of what I am telling you is from him while the rest is from my own research. I have not always been a christian. I used to believe there was no God. I question everything and rarely believe anything untill i see it.

Nov 27, 2009 - Its something that is beyond what we as naturally understand as humans...if you want your evidence to be limited to wordly understanding, then you won't.
JumpBradJump Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - If you believe that no human can understand the mystery of God until we leave this world, then you are Agnostic, not Christian.
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - That would be a scientific theory that contradicts all laws of conservation of energy and matter that we have today. But even if all that ongoing bang-crunch alternation is true, who says that God was not the Creator of it all? And who says He is not the One who created the initial electrical spark or the stage for the bangs and crunches in the first place?
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - Do you think that really discredits the incredible prophecies of Christ? Up to the point that they would cast lots on His clothes and that not one of His bones would be broken on the Cross? Or that He would specifically come from the line of David? But anyway, when do you believe the Old Testament was written then? And do you believe any of the things in the Old or New Testament ever happened, or do you believe they were all just created by a few authors by themselves?
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - Again, you are limiting yourself to a very closed sample set. Do you really believe that there have never been any miracles of healing that have surpassed the possibilities of psycho-biological effects? And what about rising from the dead? The story of Lazarus, the centurion's daughter, the man already in the coffin on his way to his burial? Were all those false or just psycho-biological? I did not say I personally think the Earth is 10,000 years old. And what of the enslaved Jews?
JumpBradJump Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - Because that spark didn't need to be created by a God. For all anyone knows, there could have been nothing, and then there was some event that caused a spark. Since the timeline of big bang and crunch would overlap, it could have been the moment in time where they intersected that caused such a spark; a divine implosion with a very rare occurrence. A creator? Maybe... but then, why would it be the Christian God? Why not Allah, Buddha, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Why the Christian God?
JumpBradJump Says:
Nov 27, 2009 - You say I have a closed sample set, but can you give any evidence from other credible sources aside from the Bible that give firsthand accounts, in detail, of these miracles and prophecies? If you want to, you can make any situation seem like it fulfills a prophecy. People believe the twin towers attack was predicted in the Bible, but I see nowhere where it says "two towers will fall." Anyone can stretch a prophecy to fulfill whatever they want it to fulfill.
JumpBradJump Says:
Nov 28, 2009 - I really wouldn't call the prophecies incredible. Either they would cast lots, or they wouldn't. Either his bones would be broken, or they wouldn't. All of these were 50/50 guesses. attribute these prophecies to either several lucky guesses, or perhaps someone overheard such things as casting lots, and told Jesus so that he may prophesy the casting of lots. Either way, there is no evidence (aside from the Bible) that can support either side. So either it was luck, or it wasn't.
Buzzer9698 Says:
Nov 28, 2009 - The key word is "naturally" understand as humans. Understand this is the most basic premise of the Christian faith..before we choose to believe and be born again we are naturally separated from God and cannot understand his ways. Once you choose to believe in Christ, God's spirit now lives in you and you are a "new man" in every aspect of you life, the way you think, behave and treat others. Its OK if you misinterpreted what I said.
JumpBradJump Says:
Nov 28, 2009 - You must have missed most of the early part of this whole conversation. I once was a devout Christian who believed wholeheartedly in God, and never once doubted him. One day, I did question, and this led me to where I am now. Never once in my entire time of belief, even while being devout and praising him in every way, did I ever once truly feel his presence. When I thought I did, I realized it was only a change in room temperature, or a gust of wind, but never really God himself.
gitsumjosh Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - I understand that completely, but dont, factor god out.Dawkins examines everything w-science,got to look further than that sometimes.
gitsumjosh Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - anybody that thinks they know everything is always an idiot!
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - Anyone can question any given event as much as he wants. I could sit here and say, Why NOT a creator? Why not the Christian God? Why not a spark created directly by God? You have no proof on your side, so basically the entire discussion comes down to, as we have been saying, not really the evidence, but really the faith in what you believe. Even if I were to give you exact proof, it would still take an open mind to consider the evidence and not cast it out immediately.
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - I meant outside of the Bible, do you believe there have never been any miracles ever performed that presuppose a higher power? Not one single one? And there is historical evidence of the people and places mentioned in both the Old and the New Testament. Just search on google and click any of the first results you get. There is proof of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, proof of the walls of Jericho falling and being burned from the inside out, and on and on.
pUrN3rG Says:
Nov 29, 2009 - Let's examine the casting of lots. Someone would have had to persuade all of the Roman soldiers to make sure they cast lots on this one man's clothes...And all of the soldiers would have had to agree not to break His bones, and to fulfill all of the other prophecies. Sounds quite unlikely... And as I said in my other post, there are numerous sources that prove that the events in the Old and New Testament are indeed true (walls of Jericho; Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob; David's prophecies in Psalm 22).

Nov 30, 2009 - Never have I heard words like this before, I am a lost soul in a world of people who claim to be my friend and in turn take everything I own. So many times a wonderful woman tried to make open my eyes and realize life is too short to keep living that way and turn to God....I have lived the rodeo life, the bar life and the wild and crazy non careing life, now I wish to God I could go back and tell her she was right. This song hits home. I am new to this music and I love it. Good bye Millie.....

Dec 2, 2009 - god is the man that helped my parents through bad times so i call upon his name all day. he showed my uncle the reason why he should not do crimes. god gave me theses talents like how to write he was the thing that keep me from saying bad words

Nov 26, 2009 - My "proof" that God doesn't exist is that i can give a more reasonable explanation for all phenomenon that anyone may suggest. You say miracle healing, I say psychobiology. You say the Earth is 10,000 years old, I say carbon dating. You say the Bible is real, I say it is somewhat historical, but what about evidence of the thousands of enslaved Jews in egypt? Nothing you have told me really adds up, unless you refuse to look into it any deeper.
