9gibsonlespaul Says:

Jan 17, 2010 - I have a 1957 les paul and a Vox VT30 amp, what should i do to get a jazz sound, no matter what i do it sounds too bright, or completely undefined

9gibsonlespaul Says:

Jan 17, 2010 - I have a 1957 les paul standard and a Vox VT 30 amp. I am having troable getting a good jazz tone, i use the neck pick up but can't seem to tame the treble without squashing the rest of the tone. please help me. I am in jazz band at school and need to get the right tone

riseboy Says:

Jan 18, 2010 - @ 9gibsonlespaul. with the combo of that amp and guitar it will be difficult to get a rich jazz tone. if you find the tone is being squahed use a little bit of overdrive(or clean boost) to thicken the sound.

Quincy0047 Says:

Apr 5, 2010 - Oh, this is how to get a jazz tone. Bah, I could have figured that out by myself. I thought this was going to be on jazzy sounding licks and chords -.-

Sep 3, 2010 - The best way to get better at jazz is to listen to more of it!!!So many people that are interested in jazz and want to play it just can't because the simply don't listen to it enough.Turn off the rock, metal, hip hop or whatever for a week and simply listen to jazz! You'll be amazed at how much better you get.So the best answer for playing jazz, its listen to jazz!!! (alot of it)

fishqwer Says:

Oct 3, 2010 - rolling off too much tone is such a rookie mistake... Try rolling off the VOLUME about 10% (the last 10% of a volume knob lets a lot of highs bleed through) and roll off the tone a very little bit (if necessary). Let the amp define your tone, so you get full potential out of your pickups rather that rolling off the tone too much and sounding like mud.

cripplicious Says:
