Sep 3, 2007 - Really wonderful to see how male figureskating has developed since about a century. Lovely!!!I prefer Toller Cranston: he was so innovative, technically very strong with unusual spins.

Sep 3, 2007 - You do see an entire culture getting in touch with their bodies!!! Toller was indeed a spectacular skater. From the perfection of the 72 Olympics, to the baroque!!! Always fun to watch!

Apr 18, 2008 - yes, even modern skating goes back to about 1870! But the Dutch and Germans were racing on canals for centuries before that! Swedes know a thing or two about skating as well. I have some new posts coming up soon about early skating....watch for them!! best wishes, thanks for commenting....

Jul 18, 2009 - Some argue that the Scots were skating on their canals and moors before the Dutch were on their canals.

Oct 31, 2009 - where's ondrej nepela?

k9henrydog Says:

Oct 31, 2009 - This was prepared for American audiences.....and i think they are emphasizing 'free' skating pioneers. Ondrej was more known for 'figures'! best wishes

Jul 15, 2010 - Where is the 1972 winner,Ondrej Nepela?

HattieLovesCattie Says:

Jul 15, 2010 - @safehaven11 They probably forgot him or left him out.Its very hard to find tapes of him skating on YT.I can across one full skate of him at the 1971 Worlds and he was so handsome looking. He looked much thinner and not as handsome in 1972.The skate of him I saw I can't find on YT anymore. For some odd reason, some sports clips on YT aren't allowed to be seen my Americans.
