Feb 10, 2012 - You're just a perfect example of the problems with American democracy and patriotism. This should never be REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT, it should be WHOEVER IS RIGHT FOR THE JOB. Your claims are absolutely ridiculous. You're essentially blaming a government for decision made by the banks by way of competitive advantage, not political pressure. This is the fault of the banks, and the American's who were stupid enough to take on too good to be true mortgages.

bherber Says:

Feb 10, 2012 - Ok I definitely agree that it is the fault of the people who were stupid enough to take on those mortgages; however, I can't agree on the banks. Why on earth would a bank make such a risky loan? They most definitely were pressured, and if you research it, I'm sure you find confirmation of that without too much difficulty. And sure, I'll agree that's it's whoever is right for the job.

bherber Says:

Feb 10, 2012 - Well sure, that statement is a gaffe, but true nevertheless (the articulate & well-spoken part, forget "clean").

Tezcatlepocatl Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - Well-spoken yes, articulate, no.Look up videos of Obama speaking without a teleprompter. It's embarrassing, to say the least. The only presidents in recent memory who have been good speakers are Reagan and Clinton. The rest have been stuttering idiots when they didn't have their notes/teleprompter.

bherber Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - Ok, you got me there. But I was getting more at the fact that the statement was essentially true and it upset the black community. And unfortunately when you give them a hard cold dose of reality, they don't want to hear it. The public school system is an example. Any input by a white person on suggestions for improvment, and they are told to shut up. So we let them lead their own community and just keep throwing money at them which continues to be wasted

IbeJigsaw Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - You appear to be right in that they were pressured, however it was progressive through multiple presidential terms. However, I don't understand why banks such as those in Canada are entirely independent, and have opposed government propositions. I think government needs to stop promoting the idealistic "American Dream" and begin promoting a real, healthy government and society.

bherber Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - I wish I had an electronic link to a great Wall Street Journal article I read on Canada and how they reformed spending and entitlements in 1992. I believe the country had lost its AAA rating and then worked hard to regain it starting with that 1992 administration. It seems to be a perfect model for us to follow. Canada and Australia are in excellent shape.

IbeJigsaw Says:

Feb 15, 2012 - This is true, I'm relatively familiar with Canada's downgrade. America certainly needs to follow suit. This isn't a hopeless situation, but a very patient one. No one Presidency will change things in a single term, but the wheels need to be set in motion. Though I was an Obama supporter, I'm not convinced we've even started in the right direction. On the other hand, I'm not convinced that the other potential candidates for 2012 have a solid plan.

SwagBambino Says:

Mar 20, 2012 - i hope you're kidding....

Gtjg88 Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - 15 trillion. That is the only number that matters in this election. Everything else is bullshit. A got for Obama is a got for a 21 trillion dollar debt by his second term. Romney at least has a plan to.cut spending 400 billion a year in 2014.

Gtjg88 Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - However I like Joe biden. I would rather have him running things than Obama.

Irokesenapfel Says:

Apr 11, 2012 - Dear AmericansI'm no member of your folk but I'm interested in your joy. Mitt Romney talks about disposing Obama's health care system whereas he had launched a similar one. He wants to seem like he was a Christian but he with his tax ideas for rich men obviously doesn't get the line "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God". He is the opposite of Christian values. Obama is also no saint but I beg you to remember this on 11.6.

irishmafia665 Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - the smartest thing obama ever did was make biden vp.

AngellicalGirl Says:

Apr 14, 2012 - Joe Biden calls Al Franken a legal scholar. But he has neither has a degree or license in law. He does have a political science degree from Harvard which taught him enough to work the system to steal the election that made him a Senator."Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gone it, people like me"Al Franken, SNLwatch?v=-DIETlxquzYROMNEY 2012

May 20, 2012 - at least all that money is going back into the country not war, you got to spend money to make money.

datmaoriguy Says:

May 20, 2012 - considering the history of america and what the blacks went through the racism towards white peoples (Americans) should be tolerable.

Gtjg88 Says:

May 20, 2012 - True, but there are limits. The war in Iraq costs 1 Trillion. OUr debt in 2001 was 5.4 Trillion. So according to numbers if the war was the only thing driving our debt our debt would only be about 6.4T now. But it is not. The only way to solvency in by cutting spending, reforming entitlements now, and reforming the tax code. Otherwise just say goodbye to the dollar.
