Title: The Story of Bottled Water (2010)
Added: Mar 17, 2010
Author: storyofstuffproject
Duration: 8:4
Description:
http://storyofbottledwater.org The Story of Bottled Water, released on March 22, 2010 (World Water Day) employs the Story of Stuff style to tell the story of manufactured demand—how you get Americans to buy more than half a billion bottles of water every week when it already flows from the tap. Over five minutes, the film explores the bottled water industrys attacks on tap water and its use of seductive, environmental-themed advertising to cover up the mountains of plastic waste it produces. The film concludes with a call to take back the tap, not only by making a personal commitment to avoid bottled water, but by supporting investments in clean, available tap water for all.Our production partners on the bottled water film include five leading sustainability groups: Corporate Accountability International, Environmental Working Group, Food & Water Watch, Pacific Institute, and Polaris Institute. And, for all you fact checkers out there, http://storyofstuff.org/pdfs/StoryOfBottledWater_pdfs.zip

Feb 2, 2012 - a better holistic approach that I'm sure Ms. Lenard approves ofgo to Hulu and look up the movie "Tapped" it's a documentary on bottled water and the corporations behind it all (youtube won't let me post the link)give it a watch if you're really serious about changing the world's perception of drinking water, especially in the US.

Feb 5, 2012 - Great vid, though I REALLY wish it would also mention the dangerous chemicals released from the plastic when the bottles are heated above a certain temp., as well as from chemical reactions from water containing chlorine.... I realize these videos are meant to be short and sweet, but this is a HUGE point to be made in the fight against plastic water bottles!!!

Feb 9, 2012 - I have started drinking tap water since my filter got spoiled. I used to think that it's unhealthy, but then years after years I find much healthier than bottled waters. So say "No" to bottle waters
Conqrix Says:
Feb 9, 2012 - Well, in my country (->austria) we have the cleanest tap water in europe. It comes directly from the alpes and nobody i know would even think about drinking bottled water, talking about non-sparkling water of course. :D

Feb 9, 2012 - Fluoride is a very unhealthy poison... and in most tap water. And guess what? our taxpayer money is what they use to poison us with. Why don't you talk about that too? Bottled water may be terrible... but tap water is no better.

Feb 11, 2012 - Knowing a little bit how business profit motives work, it would not be surprising if at some point or other they infected tap water, got someone killed and then boosted their sales on mega publicity over an either true or staged dead man. All tactics the BIG BUSINESS MAN is given legitimate space to take since we, consumers, in good faith or in a hurry, allow him to do so. We must not only demand safe water, but guard it ourselves. Fantastic video.
