How to clean a dirt bike carb

Mar 20, 2012 - Best way to think about it, the carb is the heart of the bike.. if the arteries are blocked, your bikes going to die haha... and it going to respond like a sumo doing sprints... my suzuki keeps having carb attacks :(

Mar 31, 2012 - i just got a new bike, it started fine but it idles high, the clutch is loose, and the choke is finicky. i rode it about 40 yards before it died, was told i needed to clean the carburetor so i know that much. what can i do to fix these other problems after ive cleaned the carb????

Apr 3, 2012 - We have the same bike as you, 08 Honda crf 100, got it brand new and not much time, couple months later, it quit working. I changed the spark plug, oil, out new gas in, and cleaned to carburetor but yet still fails to even start. Would Anyone happento know anything????

Apr 9, 2012 - other problems are easily fixed.  If you have the bike manual you can see there is a throlle controll screw. Screw it tight for higher idle, looser for lower idle. The Clutch can usually be tightened by tightening the cable.

May 6, 2012 - Nice job! 2 suggestions, First, buy a set of welding torch tip cleaners, they are cheap at most auto parts stores. they are a set of various sized stiff wires, great for carb work. Second, you missed a step. Remove the pilot air screw, and clean the tiny hole/passages. Do not lose the tiny washer, spring, and oring under that screw. You will have to readjust the mixture, but if you count how many turns in untill bottom before you remove it, you can put it back the same amount to get close.

May 25, 2012 - @cheezee32, if you cleaned the carb and that wasn't the problem. Your valves are probably out of spec, and need adjusting.
