Description:
To learn more: http://www.sony.com/cesWe've developed the next-generation self-emitting display, "Crystal LED Display," and are showing our newest technology on a Full HD, 55-inch prototype model during CES 2012. It is the industry's first 55-inch Full HD self-emitting display using LEDs as the light source. The "Crystal LED Display" is a self-emitting display that uses Sony's unique methods to mount ultrafine LEDs in each of the Red-Green-Blue (RGB) colors, equivalent to the number of pixels (approximately six-million LEDs for Full HD). The RGB LED light source is mounted directly on the front of the display, dramatically improving the light use efficiency. This results in images with strikingly higher contrast (in both light and dark environments), wider color gamut, superb video image response time, and wider viewing angles when compared to existing LCD and plasma displays, with low power consumption. Furthermore, due to the display's structure, the "Crystal LED Display" is also ideal for large screens.

Jan 17, 2012 - Sony fails, Samsung and LG are already working on oled tv. Even so Samsung led 8000 series is better than the sonys

Jan 18, 2012 - Sony already has a 2 year old, 11" OLED display, XEL-1. Manufacturers/vendors are working on larger sets, but dont expect to purchase an OLED screen for less than £8-10k given, that the XEL-1 when first announced had a market value of £2-3k but is now around £1k.

Kaiser68 Says:
Feb 1, 2012 - Sony TV quality is great, but their design has held them back for years. I bought a Bravia in 2007 and their new TVs don't look any better, they haven't even changed at all in 5 years!Apple has shown that style consistently wins out over substance, and Sony just isn't giving itself a good showing with these bulky machines that look like something from a Science Fiction 80s movie!
ganlyb Says:
Feb 1, 2012 - Sony used to be decent brand but I would never consider it again after buying one of their laptops. Poor quality product and dreadful customer service . Also based on experience of a family member buying a Bravia the next tv I will buy will be a Samsung.

Feb 10, 2012 - more like 5 years old haha they developed OLED in 2007 and released the first OLED that same year
tsuchijunko Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - sony already did OLED in 2007...sony has true colors, samsung and lg only have super bright eye sore colors to try and compensate for a weaker image, fooling ignorant consumers with "bright colors"
FLAVIOFLASH10 Says:

Feb 17, 2012 - Samsung and LG are craps
iluvticeolnitties Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - @Vancbenson typing "Samsung and LG are craps" on a Sony Video Page, while not replying or commenting to anything related to Samsung or LG? STOP TROLLING fag. Have you even seen LG's TVs @ CES? The OLED TV is crazzzzzzy. I mean Sony's Crystal LED is nice as hell, but the LG OLED has over 8 million OLED pixels and have infinite contrast ratio. Go home!!
