The Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians in Exodus and although in Jerusalem there were Hebrew leaders, there was never any exertion of power over people who weren't Jewish. Even when Jesus was in His ministry days did He not want to create political dominance. Mark 12:17 shows His stance on government. Jesus did not come for political power.

Read the Bible without prejudice. Read the Gospel of Matthew without any prior judgmental thoughts and read the Bible for what it says. Then decide. May 16, 2012 - Listen - Christians, Agnostics, Atheists - you can't beat each other at each other's own game. Each side will provide "proof" for the existence/non-existence of a particular deity, but the root of all debate is epistemological. Theists are undoubtedly convinced that they "know" there is a God through personal experience, Non-theists are possibly convinced that they "know" or "think" there isn't one though personal experience, science, et cetera. It's a losing battle for either side.
