Feb 4, 2012 - @TheWholeTruthOr Just because he makes more money teaching at private schools than the average teacher doesn't mean he can't fight for teachers' rights. We have a bunch of elites competing for the presidency right now. Show me one candidate who actually makes the average American's salary. As much as some would like to pretend it isn't, money IS important if you have a message. This man is spending his wealth to help others. Would you prefer he just sit on it?

Feb 4, 2012 - @rer9733 the average high school teacher in the US makes about 50k I think. US is 23rd in teacher salary after 15 years divided by GDP per capita. Korea, Germany, Portugal and Japan are the highest. 19ths = Finland.US teachers work the most hours of all developed countries. Korea is 15th, Germany 10th, 7th= portugal. 19th = Japan. 21= Finland. Finland(, Japan and Korea are some of the best countries for education.

Feb 6, 2012 - Performed two pieces by this guy! One of my judges commented, "Taylor Mali is a bad poet!" "Taylor Mali only writes fro teachers" "Taylor Mali's poetry is childlike and immature!" If you disagree with this, and you are sane and see Taylor Mali as a intellectual and outstanding poet, please like!

Feb 6, 2012 - I guess I'm going to have to be the one to stand up for the students:This guy is clearly on some sick power trip when it comes to teaching. What right does he have to force students to sit through 40 minutes of study hall in absolute silence? Can't work in groups, can't ask questions? That sounds like the biggest waste of 40 minutes imaginable. What right does he have to keep students from going to the bathroom? He can't assume that the student is just bored. He is no teacher, he is a bully.

Feb 7, 2012 - This makes me tear up every single time. We don't honor our educators nearly enough in America.
WhiteAngelChaos Says:
Feb 7, 2012 - @1967WEDway While I agree that teachers shouldn't be cruel in their approach, I would also like to point out something. You think he's on a power trip? Wait till you get an employer who thinks you're lower than dirt. Yes, they should respect and care for their students and honor their duties. And I've had many educators like that. But honestly, whenever I have a strict professor, I think of it as a chance for me to ready myself for the future. He's not being a bully. He's being realistic.

Feb 8, 2012 - @1967WEDway I don't know what school you went to but if you got sent to "study hall" in my school, it was because you got into trouble. It was basically in-school suspension and you had to keep to yourself. And if that is all you heard in this message, you need to take another listen. He talks about how he tells his students if they've got brains, follow your heart (do what you want to do with your life) and if someone tries to judge you for it, then screw them! He's not a bully...

Feb 10, 2012 - Yes This video is great! As a 40 something starting college after becoming crippled from RA, MY ART HUMANITIES teacher decided I was going to teach his class one day because I commented that ...some of the most beautiful statues I had ever seen were in a Paris cementary...I did the class. I was nervous but held the kids interest and gain a good friend and mentor in my professor. He encouraged me to Phi Theta Kappa status and three scholarship this term alone. Thanks to men like Mali and Dr. Wolf

Feb 4, 2012 - @rer9733 The question din't appear to ask how much money, just, as a teacher, what do you make.....
