Nov 26, 2011 - Nice job. You did a very good job of setting the expectations. I would say that most of my material is either very technical such as finance and accounting or very liberal arts such as religion and history. For the liberal items, I have alot of books that I want to read. This video did a good job of setting the expecation that any gains will not be finishing complex material in a couple of hours. I still plan to look at the other videos as some improvement still would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Mar 22, 2012 - Do you think that one will miss subtle nuances of speech when speed reading, even when experienced?

Mar 27, 2012 - How do you speed read? Become familiar with the damn material you're trying to read and the way it's put together. It's all memory, memory, memory. If you are familiar with this certain type of situation or this imagery in a novel then you will go through it very, very fast. If you have no idea how to try to frame these words and images in your mind then you will get stuck and slowed down. It's not rocket science.

lambent123 Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - ...that memorization effects my analytical skills negatively. I do not have enough time to contemplate on what I memorized. It is like being able to read a foreign language but not knwoing the context.

lambent123 Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - My situation is rather weird,I like to be able to read textbooks faster.I forget what I read shortly after reading;or if I review the material i already read, I may remember it for another week. There is just too much too read for each class. On the other hand, i have very strong memory skills.I can memorize a book very quickly and remember it for a long long time.Even if I forget it,just reading a line or two will allow me to remember the most material. Nevertheless,I realized over the years.

May 22, 2012 - lol. Exactly the kind of comment you would expect to see on a "speed reading" video. That is, people that haven't realized that to gain intelligence and be smarter you have to actually put time and effort into understanding/comprehending the material you read. I can speed read very easily but I only comprehend like 50% or less. My recommendation, take your time and just work on comprehension skills. Nothing is even worth reading if you aren't taking in anything. ( :
