May 24, 2012 - Never heard of "kris kringle" here in germany. Jus can say that we have two holiday in december celebrating the same person (yeah I kow it's originally jesus, but common..). Nikolaus on 5th and Chrismas o 24th. Nikolaus (sounds a bit like santa claus) was a real life person and is the real role model for your santa (In germany called Weihnachtsmann-chrismasman)

thegabinatorrr Says:

May 28, 2012 - never heard of kris kringle in Germany either, your description of our two holidays is not quite right though. we have a celebration of St. Nick on the 6th of December and on the 24th we celebrate the birth of Christ with the 'Christkind' that brings present or father Christmas (Weihnachtsmann) who brings the presents. This depends on personal preference, both are quite common though.
