Dec 8, 2009 - Great job. Only major flaw is that chemical splash goggles (not safety glasses) should be used.

Dec 9, 2009 - He dons a face shield at 3:33. Wearing splash goggles underneath that would be overkill
cydiku Says:
Dec 31, 2009 - Especially disturbing with scenes shot (from below) showing very clearly the student's eyes are totally unprotected from splashes.

Dec 5, 2011 - These chemicals are hazardous right, so students should have protective suits or goggles.

Dec 11, 2011 - No it would not. Faceshields are a supplement, NOT a replacement.

Apr 4, 2012 - "He dons a face shield at 3:33. Wearing splash goggles underneath that would be overkill""No it would not. Faceshields are a supplement, NOT a replacement."There are photos of tests that have been done with goggles versus face shields. Suffice it to say the person wearing goggles gets the majority of their face and throat burnt, and the person wearing a face shield doesn't. Face shields also don't produce tunnel vision. Adding goggles under the shield does.

Apr 12, 2012 - Wat is the best way to weigh and transfer solid LAH? Fires have started bc hexane was used for spatulas w/ LAH etc. I was told the best was just to leave at back of fume hood?
ThePjkoontz Says:
May 1, 2012 - No. Eye protection is REQUIRED under a face shield by OSHA. The face shield is not adequate protection for the eyes.
ThePjkoontz Says:
May 1, 2012 - Also, the video mentions pulling the fume hood sash down as far as possible, but the lab worker is shown working with the sash up.

cheadpe Says:
Dec 4, 2009 - Shouldn't the type of fire extinguisher be ABC, not just C (electrical fires)? The video does specify dry chemical, which is usually for Class BC or ABC.
