Feb 7, 2012 - The old games were always the best. That was back when companies cared more about making amazing games than about making money. Mechwarrior 1, Diablo 1, UFO-Enemy Unknown, Civilization 1, and of course Diablo 1's siblings, starcraft 1 and Warcraft. These are some of the best games I have ever played. You don't need amazing graphics to play an amazing game.

Feb 8, 2012 - @SuperBulwy Diablo 2's atmosphere was fairly dark still... only thing was they had to encompass the differing settings of the game. The snowy peaks, the bright sunny desert... and the lush jungles. Diablo 3 "might" be good, but... certainly not a classic like the first 2. Just look at Starcraft-Starcraft 2... both amazing games but, the second doesn't hold anything over the first for the real true fans. On top of that they love to change characters we all love, visually, and how they sound :(

Feb 8, 2012 - i dont have a spell ready!
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Tomaka167 i think the second one was way beter than the first one since you can run there were unique monsters well the D2 with expansion pack. they had more classes and it was better on how you leveled up in the skill tree
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Tomaka167 plus they changed the setting in diablo 2. i dont need a cave or a scary mausoleum to have a creepy atmosphere. act 3 was pretty creepy. act 2 was creepy when i went inside the catacombs and the place where you fight the summoner.
Tomaka167 Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @anessone Yeah, but did it have the atmosphere of D1? Running is only a secondary skill, it would have been nice but not needed to make it a good game. The thing is, a horror game should have some form of surprise or make your breath hitch and when you wen't down to level 2 and saw the Butchers room for the first time and heard him speak, you shat a brick. At what point do you do that in D2?
SuperBulwy Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @FlameWolf245 Indeed games changes, some times for the better other times for the worse, but i'm just wondering, could it be that nostalgia makes us getting to high expectations of Blizzard? As you said, Starcraft-Starcraft 2, both great and yet different from each other.
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Tomaka167 i shat my bricks when i went through the red portal and well went to tristram. bloody raven was not scary but pretty intimidating. and the first time i fought the end bosses i shat a brick. the quest where you fight the blacksmith boss was scary because he reminded me of the butcher. claw viper cave is scary hate those snakes. d2 kept me on my toes just as d1 did maybe more so since the threat felt a bit bigger than ''im gonna hide in this mausoleum only.
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Tomaka167 diablos minions were everywhere and were a threat to the world and you had the sense that shit is going down everywhere else in the world.
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @36i1at91 they cared about making money just as much as games do today its just that back then they had to improve the quality of the product more since back in the day you asked ''whats in the game what can i do'' nowadays the question is ''how does it look? hows the graphics'' ''is their multiplayer thats the same just move around and shoot people?''
anessone Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - @Tomaka167 those electric beatles in act two were scary as hell. first time i hit one i was like ''well thats just impossible!''
TheBlackPigeon Says:
Feb 8, 2012 - With each pluck of the strings, memories flood throughout my mind. Memories of a half naked Rogue alone in a town filled with dark secrets. Drunks wailing in agony in the night. A one-legged boy looking for his next big payday. Wise old men, and their cautionary tales of days long past, and those yet to come. A blacksmith with a ridiculous accent. And, of course, the ancient evils that lay beneath that old cathedral.Welcome to Tristram.
dragonoforigin Says:
