Feb 11, 2012 - @arthangell Facebook is a way to pretend you have a very busy social life by creating your own virtual persona; in order to have stuff happening all the time on your Facebook account, the communication that goes on has to be annoyingly superficial, you don't actually communicate with anyone, you merely type formatted formulas that everyone else uses and your main goal is to have as many "Likes" as possible - that is how you evaluate your success on Facebook.

Several friends of mine have tried to get me into Facebook and my answer is always the same: thanks but no thanks, Facebook is a useless waste of time and energy which I'd rather devote to actual friends whom I actually care for.
