Jan 28, 2012 - MySpace is still in the Top 100 sites according to Google Ad Planner. It's in the top 10 Social Networking sites, according to Nielsen. It's still beating out Tumblr & Google+. ComScore's latest figures show it still ahead of Tumblr & Google+. I made Tiny Urls for the following: tinyurl dot com /myspnielsen. Replace last part with /mysptwitter, /myspadplanner, /myspcomscr -- see for yourself!

Jan 31, 2012 - @Kevin-that is a valid point. Originally, I had the title as "Why Myspace Failed and Facebook Won't" but that didn't seem fair considering MySpace still has millions of users. So I went with "flopped" because it lost so much market share to Facebook and has failed to reach the scale of Facebook. Thanks for the imput!

Jan 31, 2012 - Also, from an investors point of view, Rupert Murdoch bought Myspace for $580 million and sold 95% of it for $35 million. So, definitely a flop in terms of investment.

May 20, 2012 - I never got why Zuckerberg is considered such a genius, when Myspace already existed when he created facebook. Its true that I prefer FB. But as far as innovation goes all he did is create a more minimalistic restrictive version of a social networking site that already existed.

Jan 27, 2012 - myspace flopped because Murdoch lacks vision. He did not create it he bought it.
