Feb 13, 2012 - its not that simple. I could have the best website ever but google ranks websites on traffic. Since these other sites are national they are open to way more traffic. I will never be able to have my site seen because I only have local listings in San Diego County. Plus there marketing allowance is tremendous compared to my own. This is like comparing a local mom and pop store to Walmart. The local store will give you a much better experience.

Feb 14, 2012 - Is this a joke? I use all three of "the big three" and get a closing a week. He's a dinosaur and if he had it his way, the consumer would have to use a Realtor to gain any knowledge about a home. If he thinks that 99% of his market doesn't start their search on the internet he's fooling himself and making a gross mistake for his company and agents. What a clown.

Feb 14, 2012 - Interesting YouTube video from Howard Hanna. They are also turning off syndication to most sites - but partnering deeply with 2. One of them is Zillow. Hoby Hanna announced this in a video blog post that you can visit here on youtube. Just search Hoby Hanna and it pops right up as the top post

Feb 21, 2012 - Kudos to ARG for pulling the plug on Realtor.com and the others. Real estate agents, are NOT real-a-tors until forced to pay the high membership dues in order to be allowed to use their local MLS and do business. Realtor.com has been using the agents own money to build the site, then charge those same agents high fees to advertise on the site. It's about time the brokers realized what a crock this is, and how the local agents are being taken advantage of by their so called "trade association".

Feb 21, 2012 - Is that a weapon in his hand?
grimydazzle Says:
Feb 21, 2012 - He should rename his brokerage argh.com

Feb 22, 2012 - If agents spent half as much time serving their clients as they do protecting the data maybe people would stop thinking they make too much money. Marketing is part of what they get paid for, and these are the top sites buyers use. Unbelievable.
webb4Brevard Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com have taken us one step closer to Real Estate Ebay. Stock brokers thought obsolescence couldn't happen to them. Realtors are next. The public will lose a valuable ally in buying and selling, Govt will step in to fill the void. Listers who think a little "free" advertising is more important than the long-term health of our industry do a dis-service to the public and display a selfish short-term suicidal attitude.
HouseFindersAZ Says:
Mar 10, 2012 - I have been a victim of greedy lead generators before.Making costly mistakes in this market is not an option.Think long and hard before you part some of your hard earned marketing dollars to one of these type of data dealers. The drugs they sell may be tainted.
mexishaw Says:
Mar 13, 2012 - clap clap clap. applause

Mar 18, 2012 - Did I hear you right, Realtors work ethically? Really?
Minecraft2789 Says:
Mar 19, 2012 - AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHI honestly got to this video by searching arg.
dudemysterman Says:
Mar 21, 2012 - Most real estate advertising sites are not held to any mandates like REALTORS® are when it comes to real estate data security and accuracy. Article 2 of NAR Code of Ethics says, "REALTORS® shall avoid exaggeration, misrepresentation, or concealment of pertinent facts relating to the property or the transaction." If a broker provides listing data to a real estate advertising site and notices incorrect info or estimates and does nothing about it, could they be in violation of misrepresentation?
martydrooo Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - Its excellent for buyers, thats not debatable.
jgentry116 Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - ARG's stance against syndication is dead on. I am a REALTOR®, and taking that designation has meant that I must take the ethics and values that go along with it. Protecting the data of MLS's is crucial to protecting the interest of home buyers/sellers, which is top priority in real estate transactions. Real estate is local by nature and the more broad you make it, the more windows you open for errors. A home is most often a persons largest source of wealth and not meant to be taken lightly.
DelphianMoose Says:
Mar 28, 2012 - This guy is basically a 1908 horse and buggy salesman ranting on the shortcomings of the Ford model T.
nojnewob Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - You're woefully ignorant; his data will still be on the internet but will be protected from greedy third party providers who too often mishandle the data.
dianev100 Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - I wish I could work for Jim Abbot. I love a Broker with a spine! Clearly he values and protects the hard work of his Agents. Realtor.com, Zillow and Trulia want to get rich sitting in an easy chair in an a/c'ed office. We on the other hand bust our butts climbing through basements and attics & paying exorbitant MLS fees. These sites increase the costs associated with Real Estate transactions, which are then passed on to the consumer. JUST SAY NO to buying back our own data. Thanks Jim.

MultiBMizzle Says:
Feb 13, 2012 - - But you can't do a better job - or you would have the traffic. What good does it do you to have all of the "up-to-date" information on a site nobody will ever see?
