Apr 25, 2012 - I have an idea! How about we all shut up about history, political views, or whatever you may be arguing about.. and simply ENJOY TOM'S AMAZING MUSIC? We all came to this video because we like Tom Petty. That's something most of us can agree on. So how about we.. shut up and enjoy the music? I don't know about you guys, but I quite like that idea...

Apr 27, 2012 - Fuck that. There is no more room for this Liberal/Conservative bullshit. There is NO PLACE for it in this nation anymore. Fuck ALL who claim republican or democrat.

May 5, 2012 - Ask anyone what comes to mind when you say "American" and they're going to say The United States of America. You stated that the Civil War was fought because of Kansas. There's little more to it than that. You listed one cause as the the reason for the whole war. Why don't you go and recite everything you know then instead of just one single factor since you know everything about history. Also you have no idea who I am. I could be a history professor for all you f-ing know.

MaestroDawg65 Says:

May 7, 2012 - They used to crank this one up at Roanoke Valley Rebels ECHL hockey games!

heymrk Says:

May 9, 2012 - I didn't say it was the whole reason. It was the catalyst to the start. The Missouri Compromise line's dissolution was the reason. You're not a professor. Otherwise you wouldn't have shown your ignorance.

May 9, 2012 - both sides on this argument, let it go .... quit the name calling .... we're all Americans now ....

May 10, 2012 - fantastic,Tom Petty is fabulous,love his music

hotmoonchild2000 Says:

May 10, 2012 - You didn't say that it wasn't the only reason ~ in fact YOU were trying to school someone else on the Civil War when making that statement. Can dish it it out but can't take it huh?A professor would of pointed out your lack of all the facts so don't go calling someone else ignorant when your lack of all the facts would of cost you a grade on your history paper.

COGintheFOG Says:

May 10, 2012 - I here repeat, & would willingly proclaim, my unmitigated hatred to Yankee rule—to all political, social and business connections with Yankees, & to the perfidious, malignant, & vile Yankee race.

heymrk Says:

May 10, 2012 - You really want to dig yourself in deeper? Your argument is already laughable.

bubbasnopes Says:

May 10, 2012 - I feel badly for ya, COG. You hit all the same notes as those you seek to echo. There's naught but bad feelings to be gained by over generalisation. You're quite free to roll that way. Good people here, good people there, nary a distinct race to be found. My long ago kin came from England, Scotland, Ulster, France, Holland, and the woods of western Carolina (Cherokee). A lot of the folks you come from probably hearken back to similar climes. If so, we're essentially the same folks. Be well, cuz.

hotmoonchild2000 Says:

May 10, 2012 - You also didn't still didn't list any of the other factors in the war. How about the southerners wanting to impose their states laws while in other states, the tariffs they set low for themselves at the expense of the northern states, the election of Lincoln, or the Battle of Ft Sumter? You are a childish idiot calling out other's "ignorance" without seeing your own. No doubt you'll be posting in response to this but I won't be wasting my time to bother reading it.BTW the war WAS about money.

May 18, 2012 - superb....................thanks for posting

captross07 Says:

May 22, 2012 - No. It's the Flag of the Confederate States of America. All of them; not just one.

captross07 Says:

May 22, 2012 - The term "rebel" refers to the soldiers of the Confederacy

Superabound2 Says:

May 22, 2012 - Yeah, 150 years ago. And since i highly doubt Tom Petty is a secessionist or a non-abolitionist, im pretty sure he just means someone who bucks authority or societal trends. Do you think Bowie's "Rebel Rebel" was about the Civil War too?

captross07 Says:

May 25, 2012 - The Confederacy was "bucking authority" by seceding. And "Rebel" nowadays refers to people born in the Southern United States. It has nothing to do with the Civil War; and this song has nothing to do with Tom Petty being a Liberal at all. It's not even political in nature. It's about Tom Petty showing pride in where he's from. The Album's called "Southern Accents," for crying out loud!!"Rebel, Rebel" is not about the Civil War; a word can have more than one meaning, even a moron knows that.

Superabound2 Says:

May 25, 2012 - "a word can have more than one meaning"Congratulations, that was the exact point i was making
