Jul 12, 2011 - I would have thought that it would have worked the other way on you and made you think more charitably of Vanity Fair. Through a fashion magazine maybe he reaches a different audience than he otherwise would, equally the presence of his article in the magazine would surely inject at least a crumb of intellectual thought. Do you just assume that anyone interested in fashion could not possibly be interested in current affairs?

Jul 12, 2011 - If you must trot out Pascal's Wager why not check out the standard reply first? Hitchens states it well on a number of videos here. Also, you would lose the respect of your readers less quickly if you proofread your comments before posting.

Jul 12, 2011 - Yes, nothing comands respect like a Youtube spell checker named 'oneharybuddha.'

Jul 16, 2011 - I did actually... funny question.
JohnnyRedzin Says:
Jul 18, 2011 - He brings intellectual thought to those magazines, albeit it's hard to find elsewhere in them. Try reading some of his articles on Vanity Fair's website, you won't be disappointed.(I can't link because youtube sucks.)

Jul 19, 2011 - @cott2696 As he has been dubbed one of the four atheists of the apocolyspe, grand intellectual with vast knowledge of governments and history specifically american history......I think he is aware of that the "US administration is not one that is full of atheists fighting to discredit religion"Maybe the difference is the seperation of church and state and freedom of religon which is a cornerstone of american government that differiantes american democracy from theocracy in his mind, maybe.

Jul 21, 2011 - You're forgetting who's writing! Hitch being a sellout?? Fuck no! Vanity fair might be a fashion magazine but there is nothing uncharacteristic about his articles in it..

Aug 1, 2011 - Can you send me the name of the study? I'm not trying to make a mockery of your comment; I just want to know if this is actually true, for I am an atheist myself.

emikochan13 Says:
Sep 24, 2011 - well its just that about 75% of humans are theists where 15% of top intellectuals are theist, not entirely sure where the numbers come from but that's the gist of it :P
mikeyg789 Says:
Oct 1, 2011 - top intellectuals are theist? bullshit
emikochan13 Says:
Oct 3, 2011 - oh actually no I did mean theist, though it's often in areas not related to cosmology / biology and it's even more rarely any organised religious style of belief. Lots of deists. It's reassuring to see a 60% drop in theism among scientists (though it may be higher - it's hard to get a real answer out of that sort of question when societal pressures are in play.)This is according to Neil deGrasse Tyson anyway.
greeneyesmax Says:
Oct 10, 2011 - this will be resisted!
l0vej3ss13 Says:
Nov 2, 2011 - It's because he is a fashionable bastard. His mind SETS fashion. Look how dapper and suave he is. Who needs a crumb of intellectual thought when you can have a Hitchens baguette?
Pyro25892 Says:
Nov 28, 2011 - Wow clever ads from YouTube. Hitchens is on screen and I get an anti-smoking ad.

Apr 25, 2012 - He's not a sellout, he's a maverick. Therefore each side that wishes to claim him as their own accuses him of being a sellout. He was wrong about Iraq because he bought into imperial narrative, but he was a great man who had courage like few people I've known of.
