Music is defined as "The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion." That's pretty encompassing, if you ask me. Also, to be honest, if you want to be so judgmental and what is and isn't music, why don't you write your own?

He should "just enjoy the music" & not worry about people stating their taste. Your point is even worse. The term real is implying good which again is a matter of taste. Further, my ability to make or not make my own is irrelevant to me disliking certain artists. That's like saying you can't dislike a politician if you aren't in office.

Are these not your own words? Even your definition of music states "beauty of form". If this defines "real" music, you've just reinforced my point. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and therefore even by limiting the meaning of "real" to the most literal sense, if I find no beauty in certain music, I don't have to define it as "real".
